Che -Guevara Posted January 26, 2012 One of the least talked about and perhaps the most crucial factor in the destruction of the Somali State was lack of or the decline of the social and economic development. With the news of possible oil discovery in Puntland and proliferation of 'regional governments' in Somalia, how crucial is economic development to the long-term stability of Puntland and how long can stability be sustained in place where there's extreme high unemployment, lack of institutional capicity and recurring natural disasters? Che -Guevara Posted January 26, 2012 Foreign companies might not necessarily bring economic development though its definitely good start and will go along way to maintain stability.

Valenteenah. Posted January 26, 2012 Somalis themselves are the agents of development. All they really need is peace and they can develop their cities and regions in very little time. The majority of the progress in the Northern and Eastern regions was led by the population. Same with the more calm areas of the Southern regions. I have very little doubt that should absolute peace and law & order be achieved, Somalia will level off with its neighbours within a decade and leave them in the dust within two decades. The future is very bright for Somalia, if only we would leave each other alone and work together. I absolutely believe that.
