somalee Posted January 19, 2012 Highest achieving Somalis, most famous Somalis. Somalis whose actions and opinions strongly influenced others as well as the course of events. Could be an athlete, politician, scholar et cetera. This is my list. 1.Seyyid Mohammed Abdulle Hassan Islamic scholar and freedom fighter. He established the Dervish state in Somalia and fought an anti-imperial war against the British, Italians and Ethiopians. Also the most prolific poet in Somali history. 2. Imam Ahmed ibn Ibrahim al-Ghazi As an Imam and General of Adal he invaded Ethiopia and defeated several Ethiopian emperors, wreaking much damage on that kingdom. 3.Sheikh Uways Al Barawi Sheikh Uways' influence can be felt throughout East Africa: From the islands surrounding Zanzibar to as far west as the Eastern Congo and as far south as the Tanganyika. His influence in Zanzibar alone was attributed to his close relationship with the Sultanate, two of whom he took as his Khalifah. He is the founder of the Uwaysiyya order of Sufism. 4.Abdi Bile Abdi Bile won the 1500 m World Championship in 1987, running the final 800 m of the race in 1:46.0, the fastest final 800 m of any 1,500 meter race in history. He was a two-time Olympian (1984 and 1996) and dominated the event in the late 1980s. Bile was ranked first in the world at the mile distance in 1989. He was World Cup champion in the 1500 m in 1989 and two-time world Grand Prix final champion. 5.Asli Hassan Abade Asli Hassan Abade (Somali: Asli Xasan Cabaade, Arabic: عسلي حسن آباد) was the first and so far only female pilot in the Somali Air Force and in Somali history. Apart from the Imam, a dictator and little-known men make up your list.

Somalia Posted January 19, 2012 Your lists don't make sense. It says the most PROMINENT, meaning people have to recognize their name. Abdullahi Yusuf, Aideed, Ayaan Hirsi, Siad Barre and Sayiid.
Somalina Posted January 19, 2012 If people means 'YOU' then I don't care what you recognize. Keep it moving Cusmaano.

The list would be different if it was the 5 most 'distinguished'. Your language and intelligence seem to pertain to your side of the fence.

Insulting the religion of more then one billion people and Profet Mohamed(SCW) and calling the prophet names that one never would even call anyone, spreading hate. Who wouldnt have anything against it, is the question. Even if you are an atheist, that doesnt give you the right to insult people and spread hate. Only a twisted, sick and hatefull person would have nothing against that.
