Jacaylbaro Posted January 8, 2012 Hargeisa, January 5, 2011 - The president of Somaliland, H.E. Ahmed Mohammed Silanyo has warned against the fraudulent acquisition of public property for personal use. In a press statement President Silanyo said that he is aware that public property especially buildings have been grabbed by crooked individuals who acquire fake ownership documents of ownership. Public property (buildings and land are the property of the citizens of Somaliland, and only the central government has the legal authority to sell, rent or disburse the said property. To this effect, it is a criminal offense for an individual to posses or to acquire any public property ownership documents. President Silanyo directed all the concerned government agencies to immediately act on this decree. This public property protection decree comes at a time when the government is faced with an acute growing one of space to operate on, to some extent forcing public agencies to rent private premises. How can ordinary citiezens keep hold of their fairly owned property if a dodgy government official decides to collar it? War Siilaanyo wan iska nacay. Carafaat Posted January 8, 2012 The landlaw should be passed by Parliament and all land should be nationalised, to make an end to the Ponzi scheme on land. Somaliland has one of the highest land prices in Africa!
