The Zack Posted December 22, 2011 So I am being told AMISOM troops are in Garowe to keep the conference secure, is this true? Where the hell is the Puntland army? Who normally keeps the place safe?
Somalia Posted December 22, 2011 He always have a few with him it is part of the mandate. But it is symbolic more than anything else, if it was unsafe he would have taken the entourage with him.. I've been told they are around half a dozen.
The Zack Posted December 22, 2011 So the dude doesn't trust the puntland army? He doesn't carry them when he goes to Nairobi.

AMISOM doesn't have a mandate in Kenya nor is it the same. They are like his bodyguards, if it was unsafe he wouldn't take a few.
The Zack Posted December 22, 2011 I heard there are more than a few duqa. The whole conference is being guarded by AMISOM. So I heard.
Thankful Posted December 22, 2011 Come on Zack! You are not giving Somalis the credit they deserve. It is quite obvious that there is no way that less then ten thousand Amisom troops could ever send Al Shabaab running and hiding from Mogadishu. The majority of the heavy fighting was done by the Somalis. The small number of Aminsom troops and the huge progess that has been achieved do not add up. It was Somalis that did it the bulk of it! Yes Aminsom provided logistics, training and combat. However, their numbers are too small to have solely been the factor responsible for the accomplishments in Mogadishu. Amisom - travels with the president everywhere in SOMalia, Nairobi is in another country.
Somalia Posted December 22, 2011 You need to stop reading anti-Puntland websites if you want a fair view. Raxanreeb is not a good website and fabricates a lot since the Garsoor incidence. The whole conference is guided by Puntland forces along every road, the AMISOM bodyguards do not have weapons other than their AK. Some people are angry that their folks were not invited, but then again, who the hell are you?

IMO Puntland should not have alllowed even AMISOM bodyguards if PL is capable of doing the task. Think about the affect on PR this will have. But of-course AMISOM doesnt want to their enterprise to be irrelevant even a second.

Dr_Osman Posted December 22, 2011 Puntland is managing it's own city, the roads in the city has been equipped with security camera . Ilkajir has refuted it clearly also on garoweonline. It reminds of the lie they said when sharif partook in the police graduation at mogadishu the same day he was supposebly in garowe, then it was found out that the pictures was taken 17th of december when sharif did attend the police graduation but they released it now so they can make it appear to people sharif was in mogadishu and not garowe. It's so sad how far ppl go to lie especially when you get caught out red handed like the police graduation incident!!! Some people are just furious at Puntland and its success.
