Somaliland and Djibouti discuss management of water resources

DJIBOUTI(SomalilandPress)—Djibouti’s Director of Water Agency Mr. Yusuf Mirphani Barkat meets with Ibrahim Ziyad Yonis Managing Director of Hargeisa Water Agency to discuss ways and means to lay the foundations for a successful partnership in the control of a smooth management of the vital resources between the two countries. Mr. Ibrahim Ziyad Yonis was part of the delegation that was with Somaliland President Ahmed Silaanyo’s visit to Djibouti last week.

 

 

 

Both Mr.Barkat and Mr. Yonis talk about how Djibouti’s expertise of water management and distribution of water can help Somaliland. Director Ibrahim Yonis thanked his counterpart for Djibouti’s help with rebuilding Somaliland’s water structure that only covers the capital of Hargeisa.

 

Director of Djibouti’s Water Agency Mr. Yusuf Barkat expressed his desire to establish an exchange program of expertise with Hargeisa Water Agency as he said “Djibouti and Somaliland are neighbors who have a lot of things in common and therefore it is important that we have an ongoing collaboration and partnership in the interest of our people and nations”.

 

The meeting between Mr. Barkat and Mr. Yonis was a good opportunity for water professionals from both countries to discuss ways and means to lay the foundations for a successful partnership in the control of smooth.
