The SNM militia invaded Hergeisa and Burco simultaneously, resulting in the systematic killings of Government Employees and their families in Burco and Hergeisa by the SNM militia. After that, as any Government would do, Siyaad Barre's government attacked Hergeisa and Burco, targeting ONLY the SNM rebels and the homes they were hiding.
