Ethiopia, Somaliland Agree To Co-operate To Ensure Peace, Stability

ADDIS ABABA, Nov 1 (BERNAMA-NNN-ENA) -- Ethiopia and Somaliland have pledged to work closely together towards ensuring peace and stability in the Horn of Africa region at a meeting here between Prime Minister Meles Zenawi and Somaliland President Ahmed Mohammed.

 

The two held discussions on various issues including peace and stability, bilateral and regional concerns here Monday. They also discussed how to work together to prevent piracy in the Indian Ocean.

 

President Ahmed told journalists after the meeting that his government had placed under custody dozens of suspected terrorists engaged in piracy and investigations were underway.

 

He said the two countries were working to further enhance their relations which he described as being "in good shape".

 

Meles lauded the efforts of the Somaliland administration for its commitment to fight against piracy and added that Ethiopia was resolute on working with Somaliland to ensure peace and stability on their border areas, according to an official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
