At the end of the day, pragmatism trumps silly politics. It would have been a travesty if 300 students lost this valuable scholarship because of Somaliland's political games. I am glad the SL leadership recognized the danger.

NGONGE has disappointed me as of late. The man whom I thought would be above silly egos is showing signs that he has indeed bought this 'ictiriaaf' thing.

This is the whole SL dream in a nut shell it is not only a fight for ictiraaf, but a fight against simple beareacratic procedure as well as common sense, and when the reality on the ground is one hundred percent clear [Where you see photos call them doctored, where you see reports and receive calls on how nice the e-passport your inadheer got in mogadishu, wipe said convo from memory]simply deny reality.

 

Tell me how can some of us take this fight for ictiraaf for anything more than entertainment value.

As for the topic of the thread; a much ado about nothing as per usual with this kind of threads anyway. Take for example the education minister samsam whom i know and met several times when she used to run her community education in london - she has british passport and from what from history Silaanyo also travelled with Somali passport when he was getting his education from English university.

Yes I read what Siilaanyo had to say on the Turkish scholarship. No doubt that the old man is a reasonable man. But he is boxed in politically. You, good NGONGE, are a reasonable man who chose to support most absurd of assertions. Turkiya does not recognize you, so it will therefore not accept your claim of statehood. You understand that, and Siilaanyo understands it.

 

Even if you are resolved to defend these claims for entertainment sake as Liqaye suggests, the symbolism of last few days are undeniably remarkable. Take a note who got to do the 'dardaaran' to Somali students, it was Somali president Mr. Sharif. Also take a note of what Passport these students used to travel. It was Somali passport. And finally, the symbolism of Mogadishu once again being the center, and the capital of Somalis where all students come to depart from TOGETHER, is symbolically important.
