Shinbir Majabe Posted September 2, 2011 Bernama TV cameraman Noramfaizul Mohd Nor, 41, who was in Somalia with the Putera 1Malaysia Club for the Humanitarian aid mission, was killed in Mogadishu Friday night. According to Khairulanuar Yahaya, a Bernama TV journalist, Noramfaizul who was with members of the electronic media on a truck and heading to the city's commercial centre to send visuals that were earlier recorded, was hit by a bullet fired at an army truck by rebels. The bullet had pierced through his lungs. The incident happened at 10.30pm Malaysia time and Noramfaizul passed away at 11.07pm (Malaysian time) which is five hours ahead of Mogadishu, while receiving medical attention. Khairulanuar said shots were fired at a government army truck that was accompanying the media vehicle and a stray bullet hit Noramfaizul who was seated by the door. The humanitarian mission to Somalia arrived in Mogadishu on Aug 28 and expected to return on Sept 8. TV3 cameramen Aziz Reza Mazlan, who was also shot at, escaped with light injuries. A statement on Bernama's website says 41-year-old Noramfaizul Mohd Nor was killed Friday in Mogadishu as he accompanied the aid agency Putera 1Malasyai Club on a humanitarian mission. A Somali official says the man was shot as he was traveling in a car near a busy junction known as Kilometer Four. The official asked not to be named because he was not authorized to speak to the press. The circumstances of the shooting were unclear. Aid agencies and journalists have been flooding into the capital to respond to war-ravaged Somalia's widespread famine.
