The Begining of the End-Rebels in Tripoli

Recommended Posts

Libaax, I understand the Gadafi rule has ended(almost), but the urban warfare, street 2 street fighting has just started, with 140 tribes competing now for the rule of Libya, remember, the rebels who entered the Tripoli were the Abnaa' Al Jibaal, or the rebels from the mountains, and the denounced the Benghazi folks.

We don't know if the Gadafi family will survive or not, and how they will flee Libya, there has being some rumours that Gadafi himself is in Sabha, a city of 350KM to the border of Algeria, and Gadafi forces controling that city inside the desert, as well as Sirte, the birth place of Gadafi.

What happens in the next few hours or until tomoro is something we are all waiting.

Libaax, the mountain tribes are Arabs, with small pockets of Berbers siding with them, these guys had bein denied all the wealth that Libya has to offer, they are mad, and angry folks, now they are in Tripoli, there is no relationship between the Benghazi folks and them, it is said that it was them who fired Mohamed Gadaf's house last night when he was on live phone tv on Al Aljazeera, 3 rebels from Benghazi were guiding Mohamed Gadafi at the time, the intruders broke into his villa, such shows lack of coordination between the rebels of all tribes.

EDIT: Breaking News:

The footage of Saif Al Islam was identified by people of knowledge to be inside Bab Al Aziziya, that indeed is a major blow to the rebels who said they surrounded the Bab Al Aziziya since last night.

That means between Bab Al Aziziya and all the way to the Rixos hotel is controlled by Gadafi forces.

To get an idea, here is the map:

Nuune updates are off the hook. Keep them coming .

TRIPOLI, Libya -Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi's son and one-time heir apparent, who was reported arrested by rebels on Sunday when they advanced on the capital Tripoli, is free. Saif al-Islam turned up early Tuesday morning at the Rixos hotel, where about 30 foreign journalists are staying in Tripoli under the close watch of regime minders. He then took reporters in a convoy of black, armored SUVs on a drive through parts of the city under the regime's control.

One of Col Muammar Gaddafi's sons, Saif al-Islam, has appeared in Tripoli and claimed the government had "broken the backbone" of the rebel offensive there.

He turned up in a government vehicle at a hotel held by loyalists, a day after the rebels said they had detained him.

A BBC correspondent said Saif al-Islam seemed confident and full of adrenalin.

Our correspondent says fighting in Tripoli has restarted, with the sounds of gunfire and grenades. Both sides say they control most of the capital.

On Monday the rebels met strong resistance from pro-Gaddafi forces as they continued their push.

Rebel leader Mustafa Abdul Jalil claimed fighters were in control of 95% of the city. But the BBC's Matthew Price, in Tripoli, says it is still unclear who is winning the battle for the capital.

Saif al-Islam Gaddafi turned up in the early hours of Tuesday at the Rixos Hotel, where many international journalists are based.

He told the BBC: "We have broken the backbone of the rebels." He added that by moving into Tripoli, the rebels had fallen into "a trap".

"We gave them a hard time, so we're winning," he said.

Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, 39, had been widely regarded as a likely successor to his father. On Sunday the rebels claimed they had captured him, along with other members of his family.
