This week Turkey began aid shipments to the drought-stricken country. Erdogan might also host a guest en route, namely Somali President Sheikh Sherif Ahmet, who is expected to visit Istanbul next week. Ps: So Sheikh Sharif won't meet Turkish Prime Minister in Somalia, instead, the Sharif will be in Turkey next week when Turkish primie minister is travelling to Somalia, cajjiib

NGONGE Posted August 12, 2011 The UN produced a list of donors of aid to Somalia the other day. The USA was at the top with almost 600 million dollars worth of aid, the UK was second followed by Japan and Australia and then, came the biggest Muslim donor (no, it was not Turkey and it hardly ever publicises it's donations or future visits to stricken lands). Som@li Posted August 12, 2011 US is biggest giver of Horn of Africa famine aid OBI, Kenya — A U.N. list of countries donating aid money to the Horn of Africa famine shows that the U.S. is by far the biggest donor, having given around $580 million in aid this year. The U.N. says the world community has given $1.1 billion in aid so far, but that $1.3 billion more is needed to help the more than 12 million people in need. At least 30,000 people have already died. Britain is the second-biggest donor at $205 million, followed by Japan and Australia. Saudi Arabia is next at $60 million. It is the biggest donor from the Muslim world. U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton on Thursday announced another $17 million in U.S. funding. She said the drought is a reminder of the need to invest in global agriculture. NASSIR Posted August 12, 2011 Indeed. Thanks to USA, Japan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the rest of donors. However nothing beats PM ERDOGEN's planned official trip to Somalia. Viva Turkey.

ElPunto Posted August 15, 2011 puts on helmet A little overboard with Turkish love. Better if he stayed home and donated the cash equivalent of his trip. Or give residence to the Somalis in Turkey who flee to a hostile Europe because they're unable to stay.
