Somaliland: Five officials arrested for corruption charges

Burao(JSLTimes.com) – Officials from Somaliland General Auditors launched an investigation to government institutions to all regions of the country. They apprehended five officials who were working for Burao City Hall including the deputy general accountant to Buroa after they have been accused of corruption charges.

 

The officials who are in custody are:-

 

1. Mr. Ahmed Adan Yusuf who is the General Director of Money and management of Togdheer Province.

 

2. Mr. Ahmed Mohmed Abdillahi who is the General Director for Social Issues for Burao Municipality.

 

3. Mr. Bashir abdi Hasan who is the Sales and Tender Officer for Burao City Hall.

 

4. Mr. Farah Husen Adam who is the General Director of Taxes for Burao City Hall.

 

5. Deputy General Accountant to Togdheer region Mr. Ismail Mohamud Diriye.

 

Reports confirmed that all those accused of corruption charges are in custody in the Central Police Station in Burao. The General a campaign of investigating officials who work for the government in different regions of the country and those who are found guilty will be punished for their misconduct.

Somaliland government is working hard to combat corruption in the country. President Siilaanyo has put to gether a good national action plan to fight corruption.
