AU and Internation Community considers Sheekh Shariif to be the most effective guy against Al-Shabab

it is why they gave him the extension. farmeejo doesn't even register high in the AU/EU radar. no one in the international community thinks highly of farmajo. as far as TFG is concerned, they know who runs the game. musaveni was desperate to keep sheekh shariif. kenyati were doing the same thing.

the AU/AMISOM have a mission and that mission is to defeat al-shabaab. they think that if president shariif stays, the battle will continue as planned. musaveni insisted that if sheekh shariif leaves, the AU efforts will be curtailed or withdrawn.

i think Puntland and Mogadishu relationship will improve. sheekh shariif and faroole have really gotten to know each other the last couple of days and they were seen laughing and joking together. somalia needs a federal government that is not enemy of one clan.

from what i heard from nairobi waxa-la-yiri, farmaejo became a victim of his own greed for power. he could have told sheekh shariif that isolating puntland was not a good move, but instead he made it worse and was enjoying it. it costed him faroole's valuable support in his most desperate hour in uganda. sometimes you need a backbone. farmaajo didn't want to question shariif and that was his weakness.

enjoy my two cents.

nagone, shariif has a chance to do well in the next 14 months. he really woke up in the last couple of months and the way he was taking the battle to alshabaab shows you he is not playing anymore.

^ Oba, the pm serves at the pleasure of the president. if the prime minister does everything, then why was everyone blaming Cabdulaahi yuusuf? the war is lead by the commander-in-chief, the president. it is shariif's clan that is mostly in the army. shariif was sleeping for 2 years but now he woke up and started to chase alshabaab. his most recent wake-up is when he realized that isolating puntland is counterproductive. it is good for sheekh shariif to build his reputation as a national leader.
