Khayr Posted August 21, 2003 Rasul (salallahu caliyhe wasalama) said: 'The Ulama are the inheritors of the Prophets' Salaamz, I think that nowadays, that the Ulama are not given their proper due respect in the muslim community. Their authority is belittled and are only used for Weddings, leading Salat in the Masjid and Funerals (Hmmm, Christians treat their Priests/Pastor the same way!!!) I think that it is very important to respect the Ulama whether new or old. In the Islamic tradition, the closer the Alim is to the time of the Prophet (salallahu caliyhe wasalama), the greater their authority. Thats why when any issues come up, we look to what the Ulama have said (and we usually look starting from the Ulama closest to the rasul (salallahu caliyhe wasalama) to present day). A sure way to respect the Ulama is to learn about their life and works. This inshallah, will help to cultivate a greater understanding of that Alim and their work. In anycase, inshallah, I just wanted to provide a link to a brief biography of one alim. If anyone has more information on this Alim please share it with us. http://www.jamiat.org.za/isinfo/tirmidhi01.html
