last to enter paradise

S.O.S

Dear brothers and sisters,

This is the tale of a man known as the last to enter paradise.

Narrated by Abu Dharr (rc): Allah’s Messenger (sall-Allahu calayhi wasallam) said: I know the last of the dwellers of Hell to come out and the last of the people of Paradise to enter. He is a man who would be brought before Allah on the Day of Resurrection. Then Allah will command the angels: Ask him about the minor sins and hide the major ones. Then it will be said to him: On such a such day you did that and that sin; and on such and such day you comitted that and that bad deed. The Prophet (sall-Allahu calayhi wasallam) added: It will be said to him: In place of every evil deed, you will be granted one good deed. The prophet (sall-Allahu calayhi wasallam) continued. The sinner would say: My Lord! I have done things which I do not find here. The narrator said: Indeed I saw the Messenger of Allah (sall-Allahu calayhi wasallam) laugh until his premolar teeth were visible.

Tirmidi (Xadiith Qudsi)

(Nevertheless, it wasn’t an easy ride!)

Narrated by Cabdullaah Ibn Mascuud (rc): Allah’s Messenger (sall-Allahu calayhi wasallam) said: The last entrant of Paradise would be a man who would walk once, stumble once and be burnt by the Fire once. Then when he passes beyond it, he will turn to it and say: Blessed is He Who has saved me from thee and has given to me something He has not given to any one of those in earlier or later times.

Then a tree would be raised for him and he will say: O my Lord! Bring me closer to this tree so that I may take shelter in its shade and drink of its water. Allah, the Exalted and Great, would say: O son of Adam! If I grant you this, you will ask Me for something else. He would say: No, my Lord. And he would promise Him that he would not ask for anything else. His Lord would excuse him because He sees what he cannot help desiring; so He would bring him near it, and he would take shelter in its shade and drink of its water.

Afterwards a tree more beautiful than the first would be raised before him and he would say: O my Lord! Bring me near this tree in order that I may drink of its water and take shelter in its shade and I shall not ask Thee for anything else. Allah would say: O son of Adam! Did you not promise Me that you would not ask Me for anything else? He will reply: Probably I shall not ask for anything else if You bring me near it and he will promise that he wouldn’t ask. His Lord will excuse him because He sees something he cannot help desiring. So He would bring him near it and he would enjoy its shade and drink its water.

Then a tree would be raised for him at the gate of Paradise, more beautiful than the first two. He would say: O my Lord! Bring me near this (tree) so that I may enjoy its shade and drink from its water. I shall not ask Thee for anything else. His Lord would excuse him for He sees something the temptation of which he could not resist.

Allah would bring him near it, and when He brings him near it he would hear the voices of the inhabitants of the Paradise. He would say: O my Lord! Admit me to it. Allah would say: O son of Adam! What will bring an end to your requests to Me? Will it please you if I give you the whole world and a similar one with it? He will say: O my Lord! Are You mocking at me, though You are the Lord of the worlds?

While narrating this Xadith Ibn Mascuud laughed and asked (the hearers): Why don't you ask me what I am laughing at. They (then) said: Why do you laugh? He said: It is in this way that the Messenger of Allah (sall-Allahu calayhi wasallam) also laughed. They (the companions of the Holy Prophet) asked: Why do you laugh, O Messenger of Allah? He replied: On account of the laugh of the Lord of the worlds, when the desirous of Paradise said: Are You mocking at me though You are the Lord of the worlds? At this Allah would remark: I am not mocking at you, but I am All-Capable to do whatever I wish.

Muhammad

It is an story I always enjoy reading, JZK brother Shams.

Abdullah bin Mas`ud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "I know of the last of the inhabitants of the Hell to be taken out from there and the last one to enter Jannah. He is a man who will come out of the Fire, crawling on all fours. Allah, the Rubb of glory and honour will say to him: `Go and enter Jannah.' He will go to it and think that it is full up. He will then come back and say: `O my Rubb, it is full up.' Allah will say to him: `Go and enter Jannah.' He will again go to it and think that it is full up. So he will turn back. Allah will again say: `Go and enter Jannah. For you have what is equal to ten times the world.' He will say: `Are You making fun of me while You are the King?'' At this I (i.e., the narrator) saw the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) laugh till his premolars were visible and he said, "Such man will be the last dweller of Jannah in its lowest rank.''

This is not only a distant tale, someone else’s story or a unique event limited to afterlife. No! In fact this is the story, tales and events of our everyday lives we have become too blinded to realise, and maybe it would be a worthwhile to take a moment of pause and acknowledge that fact. The fact that, despite Allah’s overabundant supplies of Bounty, Mercy and Generosity, we humans are never satisfied either seemingly deserving or undeservingly. The fact that Allah is All-Merciful and we humans are ever increasingly ungrateful. No shame will stop us from being that way, so, we as nomads, what should we do to at least acknowledge that fact? All opinions are appreciated.

And o yeah, some nomads may look surprised and think, what!? Humorous Allah!? To which I can only aswer; who created humour in the first place?

Brother Mohammad, jazaka-Allahu khayran for the xadiith, I knew I was missing other ones.

The fact that Allah is All-Merciful and we humans are ever increasingly ungrateful.

I've been kind enough to look up some Axaadiith relating to the above quote, though i know there are more, here are the two which immediately came to my mind:

Narrated by Adii Waaqid Al-Laythii (rc) who said: We used to visit the Prophet (sall-Allaahu calayhi wasallam) to hear anything revealed to him. One day he said to us: Allah (Cazza Wajalla) said: Verily, we have bestowed (the believers) with fortune in order to offer prayers and pay Zakaat (as per rules). But if son of Adam had one valley of money he would wish for the second. If he had two valleys, he would wish for the third. So, nothing except soil/sand can fill up the belly of the son of Adam. But Allah will forgive the one who repents to Him. (see sunan Axmad)

Abii Hurayrah (rc) narrated that the Prophet sall-Allaahu calayhi wasallam) said: Allah (Cazza Wajalla) said: My mercy has preceeded (excelled) my wrath. (see Saxiix Muslim)
