I'am waiting to celebrate 26 June Insha'allah. It's a duty to all Somalis to remember the Dervish (Darawish) struggle for independence for British Somaliland, 1 July is the next date I'm waiting for after 26 June which is when Italian Somaliland also gained independence.

18 may is not independence day as you formulate it, it's the day we disolved the failed union and reestablished the state of Somaliland as an independent state 26 June is a very Important day as well it's the day we send the Englishmen back to Mery old England and 50 years later last year we held Free and Fair Elections last years 26 june 2010. But the Significance of 18 may is the Establishment of the republic of Somaliland and the Dissolvement of that Failed Union with Somalia.

You can't break a country apart, without referendum from both sides. If majority vote for your separation then you win and get 'INDEPENDENCE'. But only less than million will vote for your separation, whereas 9 Million Somalis in North and South Somalia will vote against the separation which is a huge huge huge landslide...So afcourse 18 May is what you guys dream of Independence. Just be proud of 26 June......

Actually the Dissolvement was done two decades ago you would not know that because you was Killing eachother as for a referendum , the referendum will only be held on the part that wants to seccede Like done in Eritrea in 1993 like Done in South sudan this year , and if it comes to it will only be held in the Somaliland territories Not In the Koonfurian Territories and i don't even think it will come to that

Somalia is not like, Eritrea or Sudan, it is Qabil's that want to separate not ethnicties i.e SSC land disputes, Awdal State land disputes and all other tribal land disputes. Therefore Refrendum has to take place in all Somalia. Even if the referendum took place in NORTH Somalia, only less than a million will vote for separation and the majority of the people in North Somalia will vote against it. Anyhow........be proud of 26 June! 18 May is just a myth. LOL

You are not making sense the world does not work like that the people of Somaliland all will be heard regardless of their Tribe wether they are from awdal sool Maroodijeex saaxil sanaag togdheer selel etc theyall will be heard like they are heard today the future of Somaliland will be dicided by Somalilanders and it has been decided , not By koonfurians but by the People of Somaliland that's not how the world works xeefow.
