Thankful Posted May 6, 2011 Ok so now you admit that you have more pics of him as Somalia's PM in this thread than you do as you enclaves leader? That's all I was saying!! Just like you are doing right now 10 years after his death (AUN), the pictures that dominate and the ones with world leaders that people will be looking at 100 years from now are the ones when he was PM of Somalia. Like you said he was only PM of Somalia for 2 years before Siad Barre got rid of that position, yet he was your enclaves leader for more then 4 times those years, yet your pics are mostly of him as PM of Somalia. I have never met a single person who does not like Egal, no one is upset at him. If you notice many people are following his lead and carving out regions within Somalia. Xaaji Xunjuf Posted May 6, 2011 Cigaal was the leader of the state of Somaliland in 1960 and the historic picture in london signing the independence of Somaliland is the most historical that will be kept in the archives along with the Picture of him and Abdulahi ciise the prime minister of Somalia in 1960.The symbolic union between the two states. Cigaal was the leader of our country that dissolved that failed union i am not sure about the clan states rising in Somalia wanting to break away From Somalia maybe you do? Suldaanka Posted May 3, 2020 3 hours ago, Oodweyne said: And that is where Mr. M. I. Egal came in the picture, since, he refused the original deal of bringing the Somaliland under any UN's rule (which was back in the early 1990s and with the then UNISOM), even if it means, getting money from them, as they had promised to him. Indeed. He was a man mountain. The crusade by the Egyptian UN SG Betros-Betro Ghali and the Tunisian SRSG Sahnouni were one which was like no other. They mounted an all out war against Somaliland both from Arab League, African Union (OAU then) and also US/EU etc. Somaliland still an infant without any major power supporting its causes, alone in this diplomatic war, And yet against all the odds President Egal took a tough stand and out right rejected any inclusion of Somaliland into Somalia's problems. Thanks to those strong positions, no one can lecture Somaliland today.
Suldaanka Posted May 4, 2020 Ragga rag dheh. In the video below is Muj. Hassan Isse Jama, a lawyer by profession. He was the acting President when this video was shot. As President A. A. A. Tuur was probably outside the country at the time. The video was taken early 1991, probably few months after Burco Conference declaration of independence. The Confidence shown is another level. Although the city of Hargeisa is full of armed men, yet the Acting president/VP is walking around the bullet-ridden streets without any protection or bodyguard.
Suldaanka Posted May 5, 2020 This quote from Muj. Hassan Ciise derserves to be famous. Youtube video 2:33 minutes. Report: "Does the world know that the country exists?" Acting President Hassan Cise "Well, the world can go whereever it wants... we don't attach too much importance to that" "We know we are here and we have our own government" That is all what counts. And that is my friends why Somaliland is different.
Suldaanka Posted May 9, 2020 More videos about Muj. Hassan Ciise Jamac. Regarding International Aid "The only experience we have of International Aid, is the delivery of tanks, ammunition and fuel to the dictatorship which then was used to kill our people"
Old_Observer Posted May 10, 2020 What the man did for Somaliland and all Somalis is: Neutralized Djibouti, Puntland and Kililka. This denied role and place for Meles Ethiopia. Fortunately Meles was also appreciative and respectful even when he did not like the results. That saved a lot of lives, since North generally is more armed, more worldly with different powers, more balanced in fighting each other..etc. To this day this general red line survives regardless what leaders from this or that enclave might say from time to time. He also never degraded any Somali in order to get favors from any foreigner. That also still works to this day. Never will Somaliland or Djibouti undermine a Somali from anywhere even as far as NFD, in order to get favors from other non-Somali countries. Example the ICU time would have been perfect time for Somaliland to take advantage, yet Somaliland stayed totally out of it, even as ICU threatened. If Somaliland had inteferred, it would have gone too deep with Ethiopia and difficult to recover self autronomy self respect.
