The only way the likes of Gagaab will leave is through mass revolt by the populace (something highly unlikely) or getting offed (more pragmatic but fraught with danger)

But in all seriousness, lack of serious leadership is hardly the issue here. Galkacyo had capable Mayor, the-new mayor is said to be capable as, though the jury is still out on him. But what lacks- Serious partnership between the leaders/elders/ and the people they lead. And ofcourse, Faroole's incompetency to provide lasting security does not help. Folks often speak of Faroole in regards of the development he has brought to PL forgetting that it is actually the people/NGOs/UN etc that have brought about nearly all. He actually has hindered progress by not providing security, time and again has undermined.

As for Galkacyu, the likes of Gagaab are old news and no one cares for them. A new generation of leaders have emerged from Ali Abdullahi Warsame to Cuuke and many others are in the pipeline.

 

The city is far too important, strategic and rich to be left as it has been.

 

I agree with Xiin and Gheele dont worry no one is a guest in the city. Its diversity is an advantage.

 

Its an asset for Faroole and he knows that from what I have been told. He is the President and not Gagaab and Bashir Ali.

 

So lead Mr President and give the new admin the man power and money to bring order and prosperity to the city.

Galkacyo is a frontier city, with my of its surrounding being rural and its security consideration should be different. Galkacyo has had history of violence that far exceeds that of Bosaso.
