General Duke Posted April 20, 2011 Southern Somalia fighting leaves several dead Mogadishu, Somalia Published: April 20, 2011 07:43 am EDT At least 11 combatants have been confirmed dead and several others wounded during fierce fighting between Somali government forces and Al-Shabaab militants in a village in the southwestern Gedo region before dawn Wednesday. The fighting erupted when heavily armed militants launched an ambush on a Somali military base in Aboodo village along the road leading to the border town of Elwaq. An elder in Aboodo who demanded anonymity because of security reasons told All Headline News that he saw the bodies of 11 people from both sides. “There may be civilian casualties but I cannot really confirm it,” the elder said in a telephone conversation. Al-Shabaab spokesman for military affairs Sheik Abdi Aziz Abu Musab, who talked to reporters in Mogadishu, said that his men were successful in early morning fighting against Somali government forces. “Our Mujahideens have attacked the enemy camp and they have killed more un-Islamic soldiers and confiscated more arms and ammunitions—our fighters have established a base in the Aboodo village, we have also taken three battle wagons from them,” the spokesman said. Meanwhile, a Somali parliamentarian in the region, Mahmoud Sayid Aden, told the media that the Somali army base was attacked, but the militants were repulsed and they suffered heavy losses. “I can confirm that there are casualties on both sides, but more terrorists were killed although I cannot give the exact number—we have had the upper hand in the early morning fighting,” the MP noted, adding that government forces still remain in the area. NASSIR Posted April 20, 2011 It's nearly impossible to mediate two groups with diametrically opposed vision. Even if one opponent emerges victorious and wipes the other out with all its unintended consequences, the Somali civil strife will still drag on for many years to come. I think we should let people decide their own destiny away from imposed, third party solution.
General Duke Posted April 20, 2011 ^^^Gedo has become a plaything for some people.
Gabbal Posted April 20, 2011 Gedo has been adversely impacted true, but I do not believe Gedo will see a more deadlier war than the Ethiopian-SNF-Al Itihad war in the mid-latter 90's. As for the current war, it stands to be mentioned Beled-Xaawo suffered tremendously but the fact that Al Shabaab has been unable to take back Ceel-Waaq, Luuq, Beled-Xaawo, and Dollow says a lot about the level of defeat the organization suffered. They are on the defense in the region.
General Duke Posted April 20, 2011 ^^^The Ethiopian and Kenyan attack has not dislodged them from the region. They are still fighting as the news report highlights and the people are suffering even more than a few months ago.. dadku way baahanyihiin sicir barar iyo nolol xumo ayaa ka jirta Luuq, dowladda Halkaan joogta waxaan ugu baaqeynaa in ay wax ka qabtaan dhibaatada ilaa markii ay dowladu nasoo gaartay wax gurmad ah namasoo gaarin Raggii halkaan joogi jirey marmar bey wax nagusoo ridi jireen” Nabadoon Xasan Xaaji. Gabbal Posted April 20, 2011 Kenya did not attack inside of the Somali border and the Ethiopian involvement is overblown as usual as relating to this region. Also, I believe it is a bit dishonest to include Farmaajo in your title. The offensive was planned by the Dollow boys for the last two years.
General Duke Posted April 20, 2011 ^^^Farmaajo was the man who promised a 90 day war of defeat against Al Shabaab. His minister of Defense escorted by the Ethiopians even visited Luuq yesterday, entering from Ethiopian held Somali territory. As usual the little rag tag clan militia in Dolow have played no role other than allowed to them by Ethiopia, one hears even old Hiiraale is in an Ethiopian jail as we speak. The article from a local website indicates that Farmaajo has failed to take into account the impact his adventures have had on the locals.
General Duke Posted April 20, 2011 Waxaa saaka dagaal xoogleh ka qarxay magaalada Ceel Waaq ee gobalka Gedo halkaasi oo ay maanta ku dagaalamayaan ciidamada taageersan DFKMG iyo xoogaga Xarakada Al Shabaab. Dagaalkan ayaa ah mid hubka noocyadiisa kala duwan la isu adeegsaday, waxayna wararka kasoo baxaya magaalada Sheegayaan in ay halkaasi si weyn uga baro kaceen dadka rayidka ah ee halkaasi ku dhaqanaa. Dagaalka maanta ayaa dhacay kadib markii ay ciidamada taageera DFKMG ay weeraro ku qaadeen goobo ay fariisimo ku lahaayeen maleeshiyaadka Xarakada Al Shabaab. Labada dhinac ayaa kala sheegtay in dagaalkan ay guulo ka gaareen, ayadoo aysan jirin warar madax banaan oo magaalada xiligan laga heli karo. Todobaadyadii lasoo dhaafay ayey ciidamo taageersan DFKMG oo ay gacan siinayaan ciidamada Itoobiya ay la wareegeen qeybo kamid ah magaalooyinka gobalka Gedo, middaasi oo u sahashay in ciidamada DFKMG ay kusii siqaan magaalooyinka kale ee fadhiyaan xoogaga Al Shabaab. Wasiirka Gaashaandhiga ee DFKMG Cabdixakiim Xaaji Fiqi, ayaa shalay [Talaado] booqday qeybo kamid ah gobalka Gedo, sida magaalooyinka Doolow, Luuq iyo Beledxaawo, wuxuuna warsaxaafadeed uu halkaasi kasoo saaray ku sheegay in dowlada ciidamadeeda ay gobalka ka sifeyn doonaan kooxda Al Shabaab. Dhanka Al Shabaab ayaa ayaguna maalmahan waday abaabul dagaal oo ay ku doonayaan inay dib ugu qabsadaan magaalooyinkii laga soo saaray, inkastoo ay jiraan warar madax banaan oo sheegaya in xoogaga Al Shabaab si weyn u wiiqday awoodii ay ku lahaayeen gobalka Gedo, xili ay dagaalo kale xarakada uga furan yihiin dhanka koonfurta gobalka J/hoose iyo magaalada Muqdisho. Gabbal Posted April 20, 2011 As usual, you are foaming at the mouth every time you hear the name Gedo or anything to do with it. It is redundant to engage you. One would think you would be more concerned about your own hometown of Gaalkayo.
General Duke Posted April 20, 2011 Poor old Gabbal, always attempting to sell people stale milk. Let’s hope, wonder boy Farmaajo can work with the Ethiopians to have your hero hiiraale released from the dungeons. Now that would be something.
