Nonsense Somaliland political parties are not based on clan you should just look back at the last elections results Hargeisa and burco and borama and ceerigaabo results and how they voted. Suldaanka Posted April 19, 2011 Bilan and Taleexi, Unless you guys are turning the usual blind eye to the facts, you all understand that Somaliland is not based on clan borders. On the contrary, it claims the borders of the internationally recognised but short lived British Somaliland Protectorate. That is what makes it different. In Puntland's case, it claims the clan borders of all H*rti subclans... you can't define a clan border - clan border shifts with the rainy season and most of the time over laps one another. That is the delima of basing your politics on clan states.
General Duke Posted April 19, 2011 This is great news. The eastern regions of Puntland, are large, rich in resources and people and historically important. Bargaal was once the capital of the Kingdom and now much neglected. More needs to be done, the locals of Eyl. Garacad, Xaafuun, Qandala, Caluula and many other towns and villages dotted along the long coastline of the Indian Ocean need to develop grass roots civic admins. Anyone who thinks this is a “secession” or a break up of the State of Puntland are day dreaming. This is no more than the natural growth of the state outside of the long highway. Well done to the people who have now put their villages, towns and regions on the map. I am proud of you.

Since we are talking about facts-Puntland is not country and any border issue is ultimately Somalia's concern which Somaliland is part of according to the accepted international borders!
