Alpha Blondy Posted March 30, 2011 ridiculous! these smear campaigns which have all too often become familiar against any progress from Berbera is pathetic! maaxda Water doesnt taste anything like its says on the bottle. It leaves you feeling bloated. zamzam Water, on the other hand, well, that tastes like holy water!
nuune Posted March 30, 2011 lol@holy water. Frankly, there is no real copyright infringement, if maxkamada decides to cancel Zamzam's company, then I will see other companies doing it for the heck of it, and within few months, we will see exodus of companies competing to root out other companies from the market, this will even go as far as hiilis and clan loyalty, which will result in government chiefs taking sides. An ugly none-stoppable phenomena is about to emerge, and needs to be tackled before aysan sheekada faraha ka bixin, this is a series matter.
Alpha Blondy Posted March 30, 2011 nuune, before you inject your accusatory tribal malakay, lets make a few clarification; this is an issue for the business community and has nothing to do with government of Somaliland. Yes, the country's legal protection, insofar as intellectual property is concerned is very weak but all things considered, slows steps are being made to strength overall legal protection for businesses. nuune Posted March 30, 2011 In simple terms, sxb, Somali business has never had any legal system, and never will, if that is the case, then only one Hawaala System will exist, Dahabshiil only, and the rest should be revoked, do you see where I am coming from, or the problems I am seeing, sxb, bal meeshaan ka hadley dib ugu yara laabo and it has nothing to do with clans, I am simply saying, dhibka dhici doono, halaga hortago before aysan meel xun arrinta gaarin, mustaqbalka fiiri, waxa dhici doono, meeshuu ku danbeyn doono, dhibkuu keeni doono, waxa ka dhalan doono, dadkuu saameen doono, bulshaduu kala dili doono, suuquu qarribi doono, kalsooni darraduu keeni doono, sxb, ha noqon short-sighted, ee maskaxda tuuji, ka butaaci xamaasada kugu jirto, ka fakkir waxa dhici doono, wax arag, wax fiiri, meel dheer wax ka eeg!! Som@li Posted March 30, 2011 There is no copyright law, but was stup1d to have the same design
N.O.R.F Posted March 31, 2011 Its an interesting case Zamzam have to answer. They are not the first to have a similar logo to Maaxda (Saxansaxo also have a similar label/logo). There are no copyright laws but what would happen if this was the UK for example? Would Maaxda have a case? Also, this what it takes for such laws to be considered. I'm sure both Alpha and Nuune wouldn't like competitors using a similar logo to thei own. If copyright laws are not introduced then this is what happens - court cases and bad business practices. Somalis need to understand copying isn't the way forward. Just look at all those ads on the Somali channels. Imisaa isku dayanaaya? Som@li Posted March 31, 2011 ^ the color, appearance? do they resemble each other? can someone mistake one for another? specially if they can't read? Copyright law is seriously needed in Somalia. Ps, you will see many cases in Somalia, where someone comes up with a novel idea, and before they make money from it, you see 1000s of copy cats, this is killing creativity
Archdemos Posted March 31, 2011 I’m afraid it’s a clear cut case of copyright infringement. They’re even using a very similar( if not same) font. The polyethylene cover design is exactly the same.
N.O.R.F Posted March 31, 2011 Come on Nuune, its quite clear the two designs and bottles are very similar. Somali, all commercial laws are required. I know people who are working on some but alot of delays in working with UNDP and translating into Somali. Somaliland Procurement Law is an example. JB, I'm written a piece on it for a certain SL website heh
