Xaaji Xunjuf Posted March 27, 2011 Somali MPs urge UN to hold conference for government, Al-Shabab Mar 27, 2011 (BBC Monitoring via COMTEX) -- [Presenter] Members of parliament of Transitional Federal Government of Somalia have boycotted a conference in which the UN political office for Somalia invited the regional administrations of Puntland, Galmudug and Ahlu Sunnah Wal Jama'a. The meeting is planned to discuss the transition period of the government. MP Muhammad Qanyare Afrah told the media that the conference is due to be held next month [April] in Nairobi, Kenya, is aimed at dividing the Somali nation. He added that the sole purpose of that conference is to raise funds. The MPs urged the international community to cancel the conference, which is not in the interest for the Somali people. The MPs have called on the international community to hold a conference for the government and Al-Shabab Islamic Movement rather than involving the regional administrations. The move comes at a time when the rift between speaker of the parliament Sharif Hassan Shaykh Aden and president Sharif Ahmad over the upcoming presidential election is widening
