Liqaye Posted March 13, 2011 Fighting Rocks Parts of Jubba Region in Southern Region 12 March 2011 Dif — Bitter fighting between Somalia's Al shabaab, which controls large swathes in southern Somalia and Raskamboni front led Sheikh Mohammed Islan known as (Ahmed Madobe) on Saturday rocked at the village of Dif in Jubba region in southern Somalia, officials said. Though, the fighting is said to have broken out early Saturday morning and Al shabaab took control the village, Raskamboni fighters waged counter attack and reportedly forced Al shabaab to run away from the Dif. Locak residents said he two warring sides used both heavy and light weapons during the battle as heavy gunfire could be heard the villages that locate the outskirts of Dif. At least 5 people have so far confirmed dead and scores more injured in the combat, however. The deputy chairman of Raskamboni front, Sheikh Dahir Ahmed Abdullahi, told the BBC Somali service that their fighters retook control the village of Dif. He emphasized that at least one of their fighters killed and three others wounded during the clashes from Saturday morning to the afternoon. Liqaye Posted March 13, 2011 Raskamboni Movement Claims Al Shabaab Military Vehicles Burnt 13 March 2011 Dif — The movement of Raskamboni burnt a number of Al shabaab military vehicles after fierce fighting in Dif village in lower Jubba region in southern Somalia, an official said on Sunday. Mohammed Yusuf Omar, an official of Raskamboni movement said in an interview with Shabelle radio, a local radio station based in Mogadishu that they came under attack from al shabaab on Saturday and tactically retreated. But, he said that they launched counter attack and inflicted them irretrievable losses. The official vowed that they keep on fighting against Al shabaab fighters in Jubba regions until they seized it.
