Ismahaan Posted January 30, 2011 Jan 30, 2011 (BBC Monitoring via COMTEX) -- [Presenter] Fishermen in Kismaayo town, provincial capital of Lower Jubba Region, in southern Somalia have raised concerns over harassment by foreign naval forces that are on anti-piracy mission in Somali water, especially the at the area near Lower Jubba region. Abdullahi Muhammad who spoke to the media on behalf of the fishermen in Kismaayo town has said that international naval ships destroyed number of their fishing nets and forced them not to fish at sea. The fisherman further added that the number of fishermen operating in the coast of Kismaayo decreased rapidly due to those prevailing matters. It is not the first time that the Somali fishermen are raising concerns. They requested the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia to solve their problems. Dozens of NATO naval forces and other international ships are operating off of Somalia for the past few years as part of global anti-piracy mission.
