The research activities cover a broad range of issues including synthesis and characterization of multifunctional thin films, design and fabrication of microwave electro-acoustic devices (resonators, filters, oscillators) as well as electro-acoustic based sensors (physical, chemical and biochemical) , theoretical modeling and simulation, etc. Job Description The PhD student will work on a project with a focus on the design, optimization, fabrication (work in a clean room) and characterization of microwave electro-acoustic resonators as well as their further integration into larger circuits and functional devices. Specifically, the group’s interests are directed towards the development of micro-acoustic components for use as physical, chemical and bio-chemical sensors as well as towards the development of IC compatible low noise oscillators in the lower GHz range. The group has a solid background in theoretical modeling, design and fabrication of a wide range of micro-acoustic devices utilizing bulk, surface and plate electro-acoustic waves. The Ph.D student will take part in all of the above activities with specific emphasis on the issues defined above.
