RedSea Posted September 12, 2006 I was just asking if anyone of my fellow Somali students are going for career in the Pharmacautical industry.I am trying to get some ideas of what steps to take in order to be excepted into the school of Pharm.D, which I am currently taking its pre courses. If there are such students or individuals out there, please let me. Thanks in advance.
Abu-Salman Posted September 16, 2006 Sal/caleykum. I guess you are probably in the States but more precision about the location could be useful.
RedSea Posted September 16, 2006 *****aykum masalaam. Yep bro, I am in the United States' state of Minnesota, so anyone in the U.S, and even Canada could be helpful.
Kashafa Posted September 16, 2006 Baxral Axmar, Here's the best the Net has to offer: SDN's Pharmacy. Information from the trenches. One small caveat: Seperatists need not apply Embrace the Pan-Somali vision, and I'll put in a good word for ya.
RedSea Posted September 16, 2006 ^lol, Kashafa, you had to mention that one didn't ya, can I not give up my seperatist agenda, and still apply or get the good word out of ya?
SeeKer Posted October 9, 2006 You should look into the U of M. I do believe they will have a program up and running to look favourably on Somali PharmD applicants. Also I recommend doing some shadowing work, that way you can actually discern if this is the field for you. The Pharm industry is pretty big with clinical pharmacy these days being the preferable route. HCMC, Fairview, CVS or even the somali owned pharmacy on franklin can help you. PCAT, PCAT, PCATs.........lol should I say more. The earlier you do them the better. U of M has an early application deadline if your pre-reqs are completed, its October 1 or thereabouts (I believe). Good luck on your journey. If you have any Q's feel free to ask. Ps:- When you do apply do not limit yourself to just U of M. Apply to as many schools as you can.
