rudy-Diiriye Posted January 11, 2006 There is a particularly nasty security flaw in windows (All versions back to 98) that could allow a programmer to execute malicious code permitting them to take control of your system, capture sensitive data, or download other applications such as spyware - All from simply viewing a graphic either from a web site or via email. Microsoft has just released a patch to address this issue - You can either use the Microsoft update service to obtain the patch automatically by following this link: http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/, or download the specific patch for your OS by following this link: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms06-001.mspx (You'll also find details about this flaw here). Lastly, as always, the best defense against these types of security flaws is your diligence when it comes to unknown emails, strange attachments or weird behavior when browsing sites, if u have important information in your system! always remember to disconnect from the web when u aint using it!!
