I have never come across a complaint like the above. To be frank, there are very few complaints nowadays, since installing a binary from repositories or compiling source from ports (ports, pkgsrc, portage) is the norm. You expect the closest thing to a complaint from ports, but ports have matured, and you're not likely to come across a hickup, let alone a complaint.
