DAD Posted July 31, 2002 This company *is* promising to inter-connect Africa amongs't themselves. Ever wonder when you call Somalia (or africa) that there is 1 min lag before your connection is completed? Because all calls to the continent are routed through American or european carrier which then are rerouted to african phone networks before it finally reaches you. Complicated Posted August 2, 2002 Now we (Africans) will strike gold if this happens. Did you guys know that only the city of Tokyo has 10 times more Fibre optic than the whole continent of Africa does? Think about that and ask yourself why?

DAD Posted August 3, 2002 i hope it materializes. Well, if they get $1.6 Billion in fundings, the network will be operational in early 2003. Now we (Africans) will strike gold if this happens. Thats really true. The good thing about this under-sea cable is, African telecoms will save from $600-1.2 Billion annually that would've other-wise gone to American or european carries. For instance, this one charges $3.8 a min for long distance calls. At least 2 dollar of which goto the pockets of U.S or european companies. Yep, it has big economical opportunities too. Finally here is the pic of the Africa One fiber Optics. It completely encompasses the continent. Aint it beautiful~~~~ hehehehe...
