According to legend, as we were told, the Sheikh had come from the Yemen and landed at Maid somewhere between the tenth and 15th centuries, made alliances with the local tribes, and through his sons became ancestor of the chief tribes … Pilgrims would give alms. It is one of my wishes to go there oneday and make some du'a for the old man. do they still practice those old traditional ritual stuff? I remember my grandfather reciting something whenever he put Foox into the fire... something like Shala yaa Sheekh Isaxaaq and some dua afterwards. STOIC Posted June 16, 2005 Suldanka, there was a freind who one day at home while we were eating lunch said something despicable about the "old guy".Every one started talking about "inkarta" that will happen to this poor chap-though he was joking!.I remember people doing Xuuska(sacrifice) for the old guy every year in kenya (as late as early 1990's).I am not suprised people still doing the sacrifice in Somaliland.
