Jacaylbaro Posted July 1, 2007 The Academy for Peace and Development (APD) is pleased to invite you to the Forum for Civic Dialogue, a regularly held public gathering at which pertinent political, social and developmental issues are openly discussed and ideas for solving them are freely exchanged. The Voter registration bill was approved by the parliament. This forum addresses some of the aspects of this law and its ramifications for the forthcoming elections. The following points will be discussed: What are the potential challenges for the implementation of the Registration Act / the voter registration exercise? Is it doable, with the available manpower and expertise? Will it contribute to the quest for fair and free elections in Somaliland? Or will it complicate the matter? The discussion will be introduced by Abdihakiim Mohamed Abdi, Masters of Law (LL.m), Independent Legal Consultant, University of Hargeisa, Faculty of Law and Legal Clinic. The Forum will take place on July 2, 7:30 - 9:00 PM at Maansoor Hotel, Hargeisa Ground rules for the Forum: Focus on the topic for the night and focus on the issues- no personal attacks please. Feel free to present any viewpoint relevant to the topic under discussion. We expect tolerance, civility, and respect from all sides to all sides- the aim is to promote the best for Somaliland, not to score a point against someone or a group. Allow and encourage participation from audience-we value participation dialogue. Respect the time allocated to you-do not feel offended if you are kept to the time allocated to you. The Chair reserves the right to direct questions and answers to ensure productive dialogue. Your participation would be greatly appreciated and welcome.
