Absolutely absurd move. AMISOM can easily take most of MOG, but the Somali fighters will simply resort to guerilla warfare and defeat them. AMISOM cowards, not knowing the terrain, and being the fulays they are, will start to shell Somali civilians populations. As Shariff once said: Somalia can't be ruled with foreign tanks. Al-Shabaab lost all ideological support from the people of Somalia in May 2009, when they executed that failed coup d'etat. That's when everyone realized how much the movement had changed since 2007 and how it had turned into an uncontrolled cancer.

 

Whatever support Shabaab may have today is strictly clan/family-based, or money-based.
