Peter Pham: Somalis Biggest Enemy in Washington

Have you heard about J. Peter Pham? You should do. This Vietnamese American so called 'expert' has a vitriolic hatred of Somalis and the Somali nation. Biased by his pro-ethiopian outlook, in his latest article, he calls for the complete balkanization for the state into different states and for the over-riding goal of US foreign policy of the country to be primarily concerned with ensuring there is no al-qaeda in the country.

To him, Somalia should not exist or it would have been better if it never existed at all.

 

I have followed this persons incessant and repeated campaign to target Somalia, he is out of order.

Sadly the thing is we have no government that has the capacity to counter him and make him look small. Embassies are created to monitor these people and their acitivies.

Had he been campaigning against Israel, he would have been shut off from the word go from the hacks in AIPAC.

His whole life activities would have been put forward for public view, what he done, what he hasn't done, anything that can make him look bad, would have been feed to the media.

If he has a criminal background, or didn't pay his parking ticket, you get the idea. He wouldn't be able to move.

 

Again, we have to follow the money. News is coming to light over how Ethiopia was able to get it's voice heard in Washington.

The use of lobbyists, has been key. With their access to political leaders, the doors are open.

I would not be suprised in the least, if this man is in the pocket of that same money trail.

Writing from American perspective, i think he is articulating a reasonable policy..

 

As southerner, i think Somaliland should go its way if the south cant get their act together in the next 2 years … so should Puntland... why force something that cannot be put together...16 years of failure and we are TFG and UIC to show for!!! no hope there my man

Speaking of AIPAC, theres nothing that hinders somalis to start a similar lobby organization. I bet there are a couple of somalis with influential posts in US and a couple of wealthy individuals. Somalis suck at networking, we gotta do something about that.

I have come to know of this pseudo expert of Horn and West Africa two years ago.

 

Following his inputs that take into consideration the interests of the United States, one would realize that Mr. Pham has an agenda of his own. It seems that his inputs are contra to those of the State Department. He oftentimes criticizes Bush's administration in pursuing direct engagement with Somalia, all in attempt to ward them off the restoration of Somalia's stability and statehood.

 

He emphasizes the balkanization of Somalia and eliminating what he terms as the former dead entity of Somalia. One ridiculous proposal he puts forth is letting AMISON troops patrol the Somali borders to avoid the spill over of Alqaeda or threats to the national security of neighboring countries. He also lies about Puntland that it is an entity that is determined to stay out of Soamlia's anarchy.

Fortunately, he is neither an expert nor writes about realities. He is a lobbyist and writes right wing opinion pieces that no one takes seriously, if nothing else, his commentary is little more than plagiarism lifted straight from propaganda pieces. He jumped from the LIberia/Sierra Leone, to somalia, simply because it is africa -- ummm maybe the "research" funding was drying up there ...
