Oh how it has come to be true!

 

The old man have planned it so that they do not get locally dragged into the conflict between the TFG and ICU. Their reasoning is that acquiescence now will be superseded by an ICU run towards the bush tomorrow, in the central regions, after (what they believe will be) a defeat later around Baidoa and other frontlines that would decide the outcome of the impasse.
