Local Somali media outlets has today reported that Dhabshiil Money Transfer Company CEO Abdirashid Mohamed Said Duale has promised $2,000,000.00 USDollars (Two Million Dollars) for anyone kills the great Somali Singer Ms. Saado Ali Warsame. Saado Ali Warsame is a staunch supporter of Sool, Sanaag and Cayn of North Somalia (SSC) and is opposed to the secessionist Issak One-Clan-Somaliland enclave. Saado Ali warsame has been lately singing for the SSC State and the unity of Somalia.

 

Meanwhile, as quljeednet.com has reported Dahabshiil is the financier of the SNM leader and war criminal Ahmed Mohamed Siilaanyo who is slated to takeover the secessionist entity. This fresh report is one more indication that Dahabshiil and the one-ckan-Somaliland break away enclave are involved in terroist activities and are allied to Al Shabaab.

 

Saado Ali a singer of a national stature is being targeted by the secessionists for her political opinion and opposition to the secession fantacy.

Suna Times: Dahab-Shiil Threatens Media Editors (Somalia)

 

Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Officials of Somalia’s Dahabshiil money transfer company have given life threats to some of the Somali online media editors to death if they don’t remove anti Dahab-Shiil reports from their websites.

 

The editor of Sunatimes.com who now lives in Mogadishu received unknown telephone calls threatening him to be killed if he does not erase already published report on Dahab-Shiil Company that put two million dollars on the head of Somali-American legend women singer Saado Ali Warsame.

 

"I was threatened by different callers whose voices seemed to be the accent spoken in the northern Somalia (Somaliland). They claimed to be members of Al-Shabaab group and said that I would be killed I don’t remove the article on Saado’s death threats from Sunatimes website." Abdisalan Abdulle Yusuf, the editor of Sunatimes said.

 

The chief editor of Waagacusub.com Dahir Abdulle Alasow who lives in Netherlands said he received sent letters in his post mail in early morning on 11 October 2010. The letters with the reference of AT/PS/169782-000001 were sent from the office of the lawyers in Eversheds LLP on 8 October 2010. In the latters, adminstators of Waagacusub.com, Sunatimes.com and, allmudugnews.com have been daunted.

 

"On behalf of Dahab-Shiil money transfer company, we are ordering you to remove the article from your websites finally at 16:00 on 12 October 2010 if they don’t guide with the orders, your websites will be suspended." said in the papers.

 

Dahab-shiil whose plan to oppress the freedom of press in Somalia and try to bribe the media owners not to talk about its constant scandals and political activities but there are still some media outlets who rejected to be bribed cover the real story on the ground.

American Chronicle: Is Dahabshiil Engaged In Press Censorship

Is Dahabshiil Engaging In Press Censorship? This author has recently written to articles which contain some constructive criticism of Somaliland's major companies, regarding their alleged failure to pay a fair share of taxes in Somaliland. Among the companies mentioned in the article were Dahabshiil Financial Services.

 

In my two articles, not only this I take the opportunity to praise and congratulate these companies on their successful endeavours, but, I also pointed out that they should be doing more to help Somaliland.

 

The articles were well received and created a fare amount feedback, but pro and con. Needless to say, that this was whole exercise. However, there was an unforeseen consequence of these articles.

 

Most of the companies mentioned in my articles either took aboard my criticism or ignored them, but one particular company went overboard. The following is an actual e-mail from the editor of Somalilandpress.com, Mr. Mohamed Guleed;

I have been out of town last few weeks. I went on vacation after tax season ended, which I was looking forward to doing last few months. Dahabshiil's management guy Hassan also called me and warned me that under our contract for advertisement that I can no longer post any articles from you. He also asked me who you are and if I know you personally. I told him that you are a friend that writes news/articles and that I always publish your work. I also told him that SomalilandPress is for all Somalilanders and that any news that is a concern for Somalilanders we have the right to publish it.

 

It is really sad that Dahabshiil is now trying to censor freedom of speech. I agree with the brother from Qaran news that Dahabshiil is wayyyyy out of line in this matter.

 

 

Keep up the Good work and I look forward to publishing your work".

 

This is an actual e-mail. After receiving this e-mail, the author contacted several other Somaliland websites and received the same information.

 

This is astounding. Is Dahabshiil attempting to muzzle free speech? Where does this unbelievable ego come from? Does Dahabshiil Financial Services consider itself beyond comment because they are rich? Where does this unfathomable hubris come from? Where is the humility?

 

If the powers that be at Dahabshiil Financial Services took the moment to read my articles (there are some educated people who work there, Dr. Sacad Ali Shire in London is one of them), they would see that my articles were positive, generous and had a valid point.

 

The points my article made was that Somaliland's successful companies should pay their fare share of tax. Is this slander? No. Is this insults and lies? No. If I am wrong, then an article to prove I am wrong will be sufficient response.

 

But, No, Dahabshiil Financial Services went overboard. The moment a person or a company considers itself beyond reproach is the moment they lose all perspective and lose their grip on reality.

 

Dahabshiil Financial Services is a fine company; I just think they should be paying more taxes in Somaliland. If I am wrong, then respond in kind, don´t attempt to silence free speech.

 

No amount of threats can stifle free speech. As for the services provided by Dahabshiil Financial Services, well, there are other Somaliland transfer companies. Therefore, I have a choice, as do all Somalilanders

The business sector, the Media sector including newspapers, and Kulmiye leaders are all united in one agenda: to suppress and dominate others. These groups have already put us on the road to dictatorship. It is real because the signs are already there. Dahabshiil is the leader of all the troubles in that part of Somalia. It runs the business machine, the news media, and newspapers.

 

Dahabshiil supports the criminals from SNM and finances the fighting and conspiracies of all kinds. Dahabshiil controls the new government, the army, and other security agencies. Dhabshiil runs the show in the Senate and parliament.

 

The political propaganda machine and the news media are financed by Dahabshiil. Siilaanyo and his comrades are hostages to Dahabshiil. Dahabshiil is the undercover cap in Hargeysa and manipulates the occurrence of every event. It is behind every political conspiracy that takes place. People are wondering and asking themselves about who creates the mess. They put the blame on certain individuals including Siilaanyo, Gaboose, Muse Biixi, and others. But they do not ask themselves who created those monsters.

 

In order Dahabshiil to secure its business, it has to maintain some power in the making of events in Hargeysa. Its business wouldn’t have grown and will never grow under the present political turmoil and tribal distrust in that part of Somalia unless it has the power to control its puppets. People are looking somewhere else to find out the causes of hunger, tribal competition, the monopoly of business, the banking system, the suppression of other people’s concerns.

 

The media in Hargeysa is controlled by Dahabshiil and can only publish the opinions favouring the interest of Dahabshiil and its puppets in the government and political houses. When writings of concerns from clans other than ***** are sent to most of the websites and newspapers run by people from ***** Clans, they are dumped into the recycle bin and laughed at.

 

Today there are many disgruntled clans in that part of Somalia, particularly **********, ***********, Warsangali, and some pockets from *****. The intellectuals of those clans are active protesting the power grab of the old dogs which haven’t yet learned any new tricks and the interest these old dogs have in Dahabshiil.

 

However, their opinions and criticisms are not allowed to appear in the private media in Hargeysa. There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that Dahabshiil has the monopoly in everything. Dahabshiil has unleashed these old dogs and they are doing everything which pleases Dahabshiil. The newspapers in Hargeysa are the mouth piece of Dahabshiil and in turn favour the Old dogs’ policy.

 

In order to please USA and to keep money transfers open, Dahabshiil is creating an image of fighting terror in Somaliland and creating a scenario and a fertile ground for terrorism so that its money machine is not closed. Now the old dogs in the government are implementing that scenario as has happened in Awdal and Salal and recently in Berbera.

 

Conspiracy after conspiracy is the common denominator for the actions of Dahabshiil and its guards. They are selling the story that some people from Awdal and Salal are responsible for the terror group which came by the sea through those regions. The people have not understood the conspiracy behind those activities and many others to come.

 

Dhahabshiil’s hard currency has successfully worked this time. But who is the judge? Ethiopia has the answer.
