NASSIR Posted August 1, 2010 Interestingly, President Yoweri rightly believes that "SL" and "PL" are fiefdoms created by rebels. He also believes they lack the organizational/functional capacity to restore, reconstitute our collapsed state, or bring peace to it. Africa must rise against Al Shabaab terror By Yoweri Museveni July 31, 2010 Somalia seems to be suffering on account of a confluence of three factors:A failed government under Siad Barre that could not defeat or keep under check the various rebel groups; incapable resistance groups to that government of Siad Barre; and, more recently, the infiltration into the area of reactionary ideology from the Middle East (what some people call extremism or fundamentalism) Source: Daily Nation Read it via Link

These warlords disintegrated the unity of the country and turned it into fiefdoms . Read that as Puntland & Somaliland!

NASSIR Posted October 24, 2010 From Somalia's Premier Mohamed A. Mohamed's thesis Somalia always has been a strategic location, but the U.S. effectively neglected it between Clinton's 1994 pullout and the advent of the War on Terrorism in 2001. Washington feared the impact of terrorism growing all around the world,33 particularly in failed states such as Somalia and Afghanistan. Al-Qaeda threatened more than once that they would bring their jihad against the U.S. and its regional ally, Ethiopia. In response, Washington committed another foreign policy blunder. As allies, it solicited none other than the Somali warlords who had effectively feudalized and starved the country. Thus, against its policy and ideals, the United States effectively legitimized their reign of terror. In the process of continued feuding for control of territories, warlords established two semi-autonomous governments: Somaliland in the northwest and Puntland in the northeast of Somalia. Southern Somalia, including Mogadishu and Kismayo, were still lawless - ravaged by clan warfare and mired in destruction and starvation.34 American's primary goal was to partner any allies in support of the War on Terrorism in the Horn region. Thankful Posted October 24, 2010 Nassir is so desperate to try and find anything that will criticize the Northern Enclaves...that you will quote a man like Museveni, who has been accused of numerous war crimes. Including meddling in Rwanda, Congo and other war zones. He is a man that shelters groups that have committed genocide and refuses to hand over their leaders to the Hague (mostly likely he is scared he will be implicated). He is the last preson to give his 2 cents into Somalia. No matter what you say Nassir, the fact remains the North is the most Peaceful part of Somalia. They have been the most successful in defeating Al Shabaab...with Atam being the latest victory.
Timur Posted October 24, 2010 Only Puntland has defeated al-Shabaab, twice now. The northwestern state relies on Ethiopia to safeguard its regional security.

Timur Posted October 24, 2010 This is about Al-Shabaab, you can't bribe them like you bribed the warlord in Las Canood. You can't bribe your way out of this, and in the future you might not be able to call Ethiopia to defend your borders in Awdal or Buuhoodle.

Thankful Posted October 24, 2010 Originally posted by Jacaylbaro: Was it Ethiopia that kicked u out of Lasanod ?? When the head of your enclave visits the city, then you can claim full control. It has been close to a decade since a person you claim is your pres has visited the city. We even had a friendly bet JB where you were convinced Riyaale would campaign in the city.....which never happened. Instead he sent his vice-pres. So don't start bragging about kicking people out when you can't even ensure your enclaves leader a safe visit. We know what the SSC will do if he dares to show up.
