French hostage in Somalia escapes from captors

MOGADISHU, Aug 26 (Reuters) - One of two French security advisers kidnapped by insurgents in Somalia last month has escaped from his captors, Somali police said on Wednesday.

 

The hostage was believed to be held by militants of the al Shabaab Islamist group and senior police officer Abdiqadir Odweyne told Reuters he killed three of his captors before fleeing to the presidential palace.

 

"One of the two Frenchmen escaped from al Shabaab and now he is in the palace," Odweyne said.

"One of the two Frenchmen escaped from al Shabaab and now he is in the palace," Odweyne said.

 

"We understand he killed three al Shabaab guys who were guarding him. I cannot understand how this good story happened but now he is in the hands of the government."

 

The two Frenchmen were seized from a Mogadishu hotel.

 

The U.N.-backed government in Somalia has been facing a stubborn insurgency from al Shabaab and another group called Hizbul Islam.

 

An al Shabaab source confirmed three of its members were killed, but it was not known by whom.

 

"Three of my friends died but who killed them is the question. We were expecting a ransom this morning," the source said.

Like I've said before, can anybody provide a statement from al shabaab saying they took the frenchies. It's not a shameful act, so if they did it, they would say so openly. So far we got anonymous sources and one media grabbing the story from another media.

 

I still think it was an act of extortion from some tfg elements trying to get paid. We'll see if they let the frenchy talk.

Or could it be some money changed hands and the whole escape scenario is an orchestrated one.

a)Did Xisbul Islam and Shabab had this men in captivity? Yes and beyond doubt.

b) Can captives under their control escape as detailed in this morning report? No and big NO.

Hence it was no secret both extremist groups wanted to trade their captives and at some point and time Shabab wanted to control the whole negotiation by taking both men in their control but Xisbul Islam did not budge and there was a threat of friction among the two.

Now these two groups who have mutilated , murdered and maimed hundred of muslims of Somalis on the perception of introducing Islamic Sharia in Somalia would have a difficulty in convincing their followers (Such as Libax) that they traded their Kaffir captives for earthly gains.

Thus the escape scenario. Read the story Libax both men escaped from two different places at difference of about an hour and both went to the same point of safety in Mogadishu at difference of thirty minutes or so.

So tell me what is the difference of these French men and the many Somalis who were captured and killed cause they worked for a 'murtad' government. Is it because the latter does not have money and the former has it in abundance. Therefore the riding principle of both parties Xisbul Islam and Shabab is not Deen but greed, power and authoritarian under the false impression of being a religious group.
