NAIROBI: Makhir/Sanaag community condemn the Galgala war the hidden policy of ethnic cleansing (pics)

 

 

At Nomad Palace Hotel in Nairobi, the Maakhir community charged the Puntland administration for inciting tribal warfare while employing political agents from the region to suppress the truth amid a complex process of scouting the oil and mineral frontiers in Sanaag and Western Bari regions

 

Among the participants were former technorats, lawyers and physicians who all shared their stories and reflections on how the dismal security situation in Puntland and Maakhir regions have come to such a pass where daily killings and assasinations have become the rite of passage, esp for the Maakhir community.

 

One of the organizers of this event, Abdikhadir Khalif Abdinur, pointed to the central challeges the grassroots initiatives of Maakhir poses and the core dilemmas that have frustrated initial efforts of the state that should have braught the enduring changes and the vision it once espoused.

 

The various speeches of lore presented by the esteemed participants, Sa'id Ali Salad came out the most vociferous and he lashed out at the current administration of Faroole for instigating this calamity under the pretext of the War on Terror just to grab some funds from the International community and subsequently GUARANTEE the return of oil firms like Range Resources, Ltd and Canmex to Majihan and Galgala environs. The conflict has now reached its fulcrum stage, hunting members of Maakhir Business community and Maakhir officials of the highest echelons of Bosaaso's local governance on a broad daylight just because they are suspected of "aiding and abetting" the opposition.

 

The world as we see today literally shifts as individiual representives are the quickest to be banished from Society for the crimes against humanity they launched on the very people who had placed their public trust and aspirations for a better future.

 

The Maakhir community inside and outside Somalia is now well organized, very active and they have far greater latitude to shape their sense of identity and of purpose and vision.

The onus is on the ruthless, blood sucking colonels and generals who have sold their people to the wolves for mere nickel and dime so as to to preserve the status quo of injustice and territorial aggrandizement that the state of Puntland stands for.

This indeed is the beginning of the Makhiri awakening movement and a catalyst for assembling a unified grand movement. The Garowe clan enclave has been revealed by international media outlets, and this meeting further clarified the clan element and lucrative deals inspired by the Galgala offensives. Dr. Said Salaad relayed information the community obtained through fact finding research. The scholar stated that elders from Western Bari region have made initial efforts to intervene.

 

In spite of the elder’s perseverance to resolve the issue in peaceful manner, Faroole bypassed all their initiative and decided to wage a war in quest of financial material. He also confirmed that numerous families were forced to flee from their homes, and Puntland banned all media outlets to visit Galgala since the day after farms and homes were torched.

The minister thinks that the departed primier explored all diplomatic channels to bring the standoff to an end. Perhaps it's tengential to assume that his close affiliation with Puntland's power brokers is the main reason why he sides with former prime minister. After all, it was Omar Abdirashiid who nominated him for this Ministry of Energy and Minerals as to give the state of Puntland free rein on the legality of its oil and mineral exploration. He is truly suspect as to where his loyalty lies.

 

The petty disagreements and infighting have permeated into every aspect of our society. But that is not a sufficient explanation for him to divert the blame from the elected representatives, esp the top leaders who have failed their people time and again. The first priority of all priorities was to undertake an internal framework of delineated task, common purpose and vision that goes in tandem with the Federal Charter, and to show the suffering masses that they can at least work together in harmony despite the relentless war al-Shabaab is waging on them.

 

The international community is cognizant of the predictable pattern of the squabbles amongst Somali warlords and when the task of national leadership converts into one with clusters of opportunistic, tight-knit groups opposed to one another at a time they are fighting for survival. Abdirahman puts the dismal situation they are in as rowdy prisoners whose guards happen to be the AMISOM troops.

 

On the Galgala Conflict

 

It's good to know that he is calling for a resolution through arbitration between PL and Sh. Atam.

 

Puntland has now lost a very important son who actually advanced its interests at the federal and international level. However, for PL to regain its prestige and internal cohesion and peace, he urges the leaders like Faroole and Gen. Ilka-jir to sit down with Sh. Atam and resolve outstanding issues. Of course, we humans are bound to run into grave mistakes. There's also room for improvement.

How are they suppose to sit down with him, he refuses to show a single photograph or video of himself. He will never sit down with anyone!!!
