Romeo1136 Posted July 29, 2004 Most Christians say that in Islam, women are inferior to men because: (1) a man can marry up to four wives, while a woman can marry only one man. (2) a man’s share of inheritance is bigger than a woman’s share of inheritance. (3) a man can marry a non-Muslim, while a woman cannot marry a non-Muslim. Even though, this widely held misconception or rather allegation does not follow from the reasons given. However, we will ask are women inferior to men or men superior to women, in Islam? Are men inferior to women or women superior to men, in Islam? The answer is simply NO. Allah almighty emphatically answered this question in the Quran some 1400 hundred years ago. I quote al-Quran 4:124 "If any do deeds of righteousness,- be they male or female- and have faith, they will enter heaven, and not the least injustice will be done to them." I quote al-Quran 33:35 "For Muslim men and women,- For believing men and women, For devout men and women, For true men and women, For men and women who are patient and constant, For men and women who humble themselves, For men and women who give in charity, For men and women who fast (and deny themselves), For men and women who guard their chastity, and For men and women who engage much in Allah's praise- For them has Allah prepared forgiveness and great reward." The Quran repeats over and over again that Allah only favors one person over another based on that person’s awareness, consciousness, fear, love, and hope of Allah. The Christians urge; how can you then justify the fact that: A man’s share of inheritance is bigger than a woman’s share of inheritance. A man can marry a non-Muslim, while a woman cannot marry a non-Muslim. A man is allowed to marry up to four wives, while a woman is allowed to marry only one man at a time. The answer again is very simple as long as we understand few basic things about gender, in Islam. First of all, men and women are different in their composition, and in their responsibilities under Islam. However, both are bond by obligations to one another. Men are obligated to provide for their wives. Women are not obligated to provide for their husbands. Men are obligated to work in order to provide for their families. Women, on the other hand, are not obligated to provide for their families. Hence, it is easy to see why women’s share of inheritance is half that of men, because in almost all cases men support women from their own means. Does that mean women can not work and provide for their families? Of course not, in fact, if they do so they will get rewards and blessings from Allah according to the Quran. Secondly, a Muslim man cannot marry any non-Muslim. He can only marry from the people of the book (Jews and Christians). One may ask; why then a Muslim woman cannot marry from the Jews or the Christians? A Muslim woman is not allowed to marry from the Jews and the Christians for the same reason that a Muslim man is not allowed to marry from the Pagans or the Idol worshipers. In other words, to save guard her faith. As we all know in any culture or religion the husband has great influence over his wife. Therefore, the Muslim woman is at risk of loosing her faith in order to insure the survival of her marriage if her husband does not respect, value and believe in Islam. Thirdly, while the Muslim man is allowed to marry up four wives, however, a Muslim woman can emphatically reject any marriage proposal made to her by any prospective suitors. Thus, if she marries a certain man and he proposes to marry another woman with her, she can reject or accept his proposal without having to explain herself. Hence, you can clearly see that there is no issue of force or injustice with the Islamic plural marriage, as opposed to, the claims of many Christians, unless we are only concerned with balancing the equation on both sides. In brief, most of the rulings of Islam apply to men and women equally. In cases where a distinction is made between the sexes, the Muslim regards that as a mercy from Allah and a sign of His knowledge of His creation. But the arrogant Christians relentlessly insist on claiming that men and women are one and the same thing. Therefore, they conclude that the distinction made between the sexes in Islam are oppression and injustice. So let them tell us how a man can carry a fetus and breastfeed it? They stubbornly ignore the difference between the two sexes and beat their heads against the rock of reality. But the Muslim is still at peace with his faith, surrendering to the commend of Allah. THEIR HOLYNESS PLAYS HIDE AND SEEK WITH THE MUSLIM: When you ask the “so-called†Christian missionaries, the bible thumpers, or even the most common Christian; what does your bible say about women? He will always start with quotations from the book of genesis chapter two verses 21-24. Which says "21 So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. 23 The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ’woman, for she was taken out of man. 24 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will became one flesh." He makes a mountain out of these four verses, not realizing that these verses only talk about the creation of Eve from Adam’s rib and immediately points the finger at the Muslim. This is the kind of sickness that these modern Christians have developed. It’s a form of deception to instill doubts in the minds of unwary Muslims. Nevertheless, the question still remains; what does the bible say about women? Well, let's have a look! Please bear in mind that my intentions are not to distort the Bible, not to offend my readers. I will only quote what the Bible says and in fact I encourage my readers to judge for themselves as to the context of my findings in the “Holy Bibleâ€. For those who are not familiar with the Christian scripture. There are many versions of the Bible and each denomination has it’s own version of the Bible. The Protestants Bible consists of 66 books, while the Roman Catholic Bible consists of 73 books. That being said, however, you will find my quotations in every version of the “Holy Bibleâ€. * Women are forbidden to open their mouths in the church. I quote 1 Corinthian 14:34-35 "Let your women keep silence in the churches : for it is not permitted unto them to speak ; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is shame for women to speak in the church ." * Man can sell his daughter as a servant (slave girl) I quote Exodus 21:7-8 "And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the menservants do . If she please not her master, who hath betrothed her to himself, then shall he let her be redeemed: to sell her unto a strange nation he shall have no power, seeing he hath dealt deceitfully with her." * Husbands to rule over their wives. I qoute Genesis 3:16 "Unto the woman he (God) said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee ." * A woman's hands are to be choped off for saving her husband's life. I quote Deuteronomy 25:11-12 "When men strive together one with another, and the wife of the one dreweth near for to deliver (save) her husband out of the hand of him that smiteth him, and putteth forth her hand, and taketh him by the secrets: Then thou shalt cut off her hand, thine eye shall not pity her ." * The head of the woman is the man. I quote 1 Corinthians 11:3 "But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man ; and the head of Christ is God." * Silence your women! I quote 1 Timothy 2:11-12 "Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence ." * Fathers Sticking their fingers into their daughters. The father would literally stick his two fingers covered with a piece of cloth into his daughter’s vagina before she gets married and keep that bloody cloth for as long as his daughter is married as a proof of her virginity. I quote Deuteronomy 22:13-18 "If a man takes a wife and, after laying with her, dislikes her and slanders her and gives her a bad name, saying, “I married this woman but when I approached her, I did not find proof of her virginity, “Then the girl’s father and mother shall bring the proof (cloth) that she was a virgin to the town elders at the gate. The girl’s father will say to the elders, I gave my daughter in marriage to this man, but he dislikes her. Now he has slandered her and said, ’I did not find your daughter to be a virgin. “ But here is the proof of my daughter's virginity. "Then her parents shall display the cloth ." * Women are to be isolated when they are on their period (menses) I quote Leviticus 15:19-30 "And if a woman have an issue (her period) and her issue in her flesh be blood, she shall be put apart seven days : and whosoever toucheth her shall be unclean until the even . And every thing that she lieth upon in her separation shall be unclean: every thing also that she sitheth upon shall be unclean. And whosoever toucheth her bed shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even." * Daughters inherit nothing when there are sons in the family. I quote Numbers 27:8 "And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, if a man die and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter ." All the inheritance must go to the son first, if there happens to be no male child in the family then will the inheritance be passed unto the daughter. * The birth of any female causes double the pollution. I quote Leviticus 12:2-5 "Say to the Israelites; ’a woman who becomes pregnant and gives birth to a son will be ceremonially unclean for seven days , Just as she is unclean during her monthly period. On the eight day the boy is to be circumcised. Then the woman must wait thirty-three days to be purified from her bleeding. She must not touch anything sacred or go to the sanctuary until the days of her purification are over. If she gives birth to a daughter , for two weeks the woman will be unclean, as during her period. Then she must wait sixty-six days to be purified from her bleeding." If a woman gives birth to a baby boy, then she becomes unclean for 7 days and it takes her 33 days to be purified but if she gives birth to a baby girl, then she becomes unclean for 14 days and it takes her 66 days to be purified. In other words, the birth of any female causes double the pollution * Rape a women and she is your's forever! I quote Deuteronomy 22:28-29 "If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay the girl’s father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the girl , for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives ." One must ask a simple question here, who is really being punished, the man who raped the woman or the woman who was raped? What is to prevent someone from finding the best looking woman in twon, raping her, telling everyone about it, and then having the courts force her to be his wife for the rest of her life. Polygamy or plural marriage in the Bible: Solomon the wise had a thousand wives and concubines. I quote 1 Kings 11:3 "And he (Solomon) had seven hundred wives , and three hundred concubines : and his wives turned away his heart (towards other gods)." Abraham the friend of God had more than one wife ; and so had Israel (Jacob) and David the king . There is not a single word of reproach in the “Book of God†the “Holy Bible†against Polygamous marriages. Dear readers the list could go on and on and on. But in short, the vast majority of Christiandom are playing fast and lose with their scriptures. Deception is among the many tactics being used to put doubts in the minds of unwary Muslims. Nonetheless, Allah almighty warned us about such tactics by saying, “Their intention is to extinguish Allah’s light by blowing with their mouths. But Allah will complete the revelation of His light, Even though the unbelievers may detest it.†(Al-Quran 61:8) Allah almighty also promised His religion of Truth to previl over all religion by saying, “It is He who has sent His Messenger with Guidance and the Religion of Truth, that He may procliam it over all religion, Even though the pagans may detest it.†(Al-Quran 61:9) Perhaps the best part about this promise is that Allah almighty gave us (Muslims) the previlage to deliver and spread His Religion of Truth to the rest of mankind. “ Ye are the best of peoples, Evolved for mankind, Enjoying what is right, and forbidding what is wrong, and believing in Allah. If only the people of the book had faith, It were best for them.
