Somalia: We Call the President Withdraw His Militiamen From Bay And Bakol - Clerics

Religious and intellectuals from Bay and Bakol Regions have vowed President Abdulahi Yusuf Ahmed to withdraw his militiamen from the area otherwise will meet dreadful consequences.

 

In a press release here at Mogadishu after intensive meeting, intellectuals urged Somalia government members from Bay and Bakol regions to stop supporting the evil acts against their fellow whom for the sake of them gained ranks including Ministers and lawmakers.

 

"We are very sorry about the killings and other inhumane acts by the militiamen from punt-land in bay and bakol regions" the press release read.

 

"The people in Bay and Bakol regions have welcomed the government with olive branches but unfortunately they are dealt with inhumanely in return" Molain Osman Sheik, one of the Intellectuals said.

 

"They have killed elder, business men and other innocent civilians indiscriminately" he added.

 

"We call them to leave Bay and bakol regions other wise the matter will be dealt as they need" he said

They also said that the idea of foreign troop's deployment in the country is some thing they disagreed vowing an Islamic court should soon be implemented in the area.

 

In their press release the intellectuals also condemned the closure of Radio Shabelle Station in Baidoa by the government and asked the radio must regain its rights back and transmit programs.

 

Finally they asked justice for the recent victims saying Abdulahi Yusuf should bring those assailants otherwise he will meet a blow.

Sxb, I don't care what shabelle concentrates on, but it is true those the melitia from Puntland has killed many innocent people in Baay and Bakool and they should be accountable for their action.

First, these troops are federal troops and not a "maleeshiyadiisa". second, as sad as the whats has happened is, no group of people or clan can till the government were to station and train troops. Thrid, we only seem to getting one side of the story. Fourth, if such people who want the government to station there troops somewhere else, we would have gotten that info from news sources from that specific region rather than shabale. Lastly, if they really did that, they are a disgrace to their state and should be sent back were they would be shot if they did such things. also, how unpatriotic of some people to constantly discredit young men who are willing to endanger their own lifes to restore calm to that volatile region of nation and guarantee the safety of government officials. Is your hatred(which fail to understand) of the man that deep? I get, loud and clear, some of you don't like president Abdullahi Yusuf. clashes/conflicts are inevitable between the locals and the troops/PL militia in Baydhabo. the most important thing is not how it can be stopped altogether as much as it is being resourceful enough in solving them when they arise, preferrably in a peaceful manner. but what is amazing is how conflicts whether minor or major are used/expressed in different news outlets. its only that after reviewing different channels can one truly be objective, or perhaps get a glimpse of truth. One thing I know is shabelle.com isn't the best one out there, and certainly not the worst. they are serving their interest as much as any other site, though at times it does take it to the extreme. I hate when they display pictures and comment below them such remarks as:
