xiinfaniin Posted October 9, 2007 Originally posted by Paragon: I am hearing news, that yey's suggestion of non-MP nominees for ministerial posts, is creating another additional problem between him and the MPs. So this time he might find things a bit tougher. Especially regarding the replacement of Geedi primiership. Paragon, they say that’s not the sticking issue now. Especially Uncle Sam is endorsing it so it would be hard for Baydhabo warlords to oppose it. The issue is Geedi’s maneuverings complicate Yey’s goal---to fire him legally. Geedi knows he’s guilty of many crimes and would resist any agenda to throw him out at this point. I am sure he will put a fierce fight to survive---and he is not without cash. The potential stalemate will occur when Geedi succeeds to buy enough votes and hangs on his PM position. Faarax, I think Gacmadheere is a long shot. If Geedi vanishes, which i doubt will happen, Ali Mahdi would be the obvious choice for Yey methinks.
-Nomadique- Posted October 10, 2007 ^ So basically it will go from the guy who invited Ethiopian troops onto Somali soil to the guy who invited foreign companies to dump illegal toxic waste on the Somali coast? What will change?
Jacaylbaro Posted October 10, 2007 Uganda has sent diplomats to Somalia to help mediate a peace deal between the country's embattled transitional government and its opponents. As VOA correspondent Alisha Ryu reports from our East Africa Bureau in Nairobi, the diplomatic initiative is occurring amid Ugandan warnings that the country's 1,500 troops may withdraw from Somalia unless other nations contribute peacekeeping forces to help stabilize the country. An advisor to Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, Aggrey Awori, tells VOA the president sent a three-person delegation to Somalia several days ago to spearhead efforts to reconcile the country's warring political factions. Awori says the delegation held extensive talks with the president of Somalia's Ethiopian-backed interim government, Abdullahi Yusuf. But the delegation has not met Islamists and other members of a recently-formed anti-government coalition, based in Asmara, Eritrea. "We are trying to broker peace between the transitional government and Islamists in Eritrea. So far, the response from both sides has been positive, although they are cautious and you can understand why they are being cautious," he said. xiinfaniin Posted October 10, 2007 By all accounts Geedi is staying, and Yey supporters are begining to downplay the signifance of the difference between the two.
xiinfaniin Posted October 10, 2007 ^^It’s still too early to tell. But with Geedi’s stay, Yey will not have an easier time to manage things to his liking either.
