Emperor Posted September 13, 2010 With the looming prospect of the arrival of more AMISOM troops, shipment of more arms and an unavertable disasterous war insight. What do you think should be the role of AMISOM forces, has Somalia (by this I mean Magadishu) changed since the resignation of Yey and the departure of the Ethiopian forces. Should Alshabaab be allowed to overrun the TFG and take full control of the capital? What is Alshabaab's future? Somalia is viewed as a picture with Alshabaab on the background. Mr. Somalia Posted September 13, 2010 ^ AMISOM cannot and will not achieve anything without an effective Somali leadership present in Villa Somalia. In fact, all the world's military won't achieve diddly squat in Somalia, unless a strong and competent federal government is created by Somalis, for Somalis. As for Al Shabab being allowed to overrun the TFG, I think that too is NOT ideal for the Somali people because Al Shabab is an Al qaeda proxy with a foreign agenda-- but then again, if like they say, they have Allah on their side, then who can stop them, eh? General Duke Posted September 13, 2010 I think Al Shabaab have proven to be a big waste of time, its all a bad comedy. However Sharif Hotel and his group are even worse jokers, bunch of incompetent, fruadsters, who set the Somali national interest back for a couple of more years. Emperor Posted September 13, 2010 ^Going back to history for a bit, how did Alshabaab start? Were they a reactionary group against the former Mogadisho warlords. Mr Somalia, many questions arise from your posts. How would you form an effective Somali leadership that all are happy with? In this current conditions and the state that Mogadishu is living under, why do you think it is bad to let Alshabaab take over the whole city? Surely and largely the world has ignored and left Somalia to rot with itself. Alshabaab control vast amount of regions in the south of the country, their power and influence equally matches if not exceed with that of the Northern administrations of the country. We had a clan war in Somalia, today there is a religious war, the conned words are, a terririst against Ashahaado ladirir, is there a way to get past these terms and get these large now peaceful regions of the former republic from North to South to work together. What sort of movement can attain this goal? Alshabaab a reason for unity and the realisation of a Somali state? no, or may be but that is like theory of relativity and it depends, could they be reformed? A lot of question and not many answers. Most Somalis I know, well most of them have answers and solutions, let us see what do you think?
General Duke Posted September 13, 2010 The assumptions you are making old boy is that Al Shabaab are a Somali movement, this in itself is false. AL Shabaab is a front for a terror network that has greater ambition of murder than anything Somali's could conceive of. In fact we can say that Al Shabaab are their precursors were created with the aid of the once powerful scrap merchants of Mogadishu to resist any formation of a Somali national government. The solution is simple, move the capital from Mogadishu, create a lean government who’s policies are Somali centric and build a base to operate from. Its important that we realize that what is missing is political will, the resources are there, and the nation is still ours.
Mr. Somalia Posted September 13, 2010 ^^ Somalia is full of aspiring leaders but sadly, so far very few seem to have the genuine qualities that are desirable in a leader. In fact, many of the current politicians severely lack the most basic qualities of leadership, such as justice, patriotism, honesty and accountability. Take, for instance, our current President, Mr.Sharif: The man is a buffoon-- who no one in his right mind should expect to be taken seriously. A good leader must have integrity--Sharif does not; A good leader must have charisma and be an effective communicator who can work with Somalis from all backgrounds to achieve the best results for the country--Sharif is not;A good leader must be willing to speak the truth to the people, rather than just say what people wanna hear-- Sharif hardly ever speaks the truth; And lastly, a good leader must be willing to build bridges and coalitions within Somalia to achieve the greater good for the country--Sharif, if anything, has squandered the little good will he ever had within his own community, let alone outside Mogadishu. I do not know about the future, but the current crop of Somali politicians, whether they are in the TFG or in Al Shabab, are all a bunch of self-centered, corrupt individuals who don't give a damn about the common man on the streets. With that said, we should NEVER loose hope. For there are people out their that can make a big difference in our leadership woes. I just hope, they develop the guts to step up to the plate, for the sake of our country.
