(SomaliNet) Somali’s powerful Islamic Courts claimed on Sunday that their troops had gained the upper hand in today's fight around outskirts of Bu’ale city, the capital of middle Juba region in southern Somalia - If this becomes true it would be another severe blow to the shaky government based in Baidoa, southwest of Somalia.

 

Close sources to Islamic Courts in Mogadishu say that Islamists fighters seized eight battle wagons from militia of Juba Valley alliance at the frontline of the war.

 

“We have captured many militiamen with weapons and their commander in the war,†an Islamist official in Jilib town of middle Juba region in south of Somalia who declined to mention his name told the local media.

 

Islamist sources also say that Somali defense minister and leader of JVA Bare Hirale and his militia are being surrounded by Islamic forces.

 

But there are no any other independent sources that are confirming the claim of Islamic Courts.

 

JVA commander militia Abdulahi Sheik Ismael Fara-tag who is at the battle zone denied the Islamist claim that they lost in the war and are under siege of Islamic Courts.

 

Later unconfirmed reports say that Mr. Ismael Fara-tag him self had been captured by Islamic fighters in area of Bu’ale.

 

There has been heavy gun battle continuing all day in the suburb of Bu’ale city between Islamists and government backed militia over the control of middle Juba region.

 

The town’s communication was cut off because of the war.

I can see some are reluctant to accept the heavy defeat suffered by Hirrale in Buaale. Ok, I can understand, cause by morning it will sink into them.

What my question in here is, why did he wage war if he could not handle the opposition. Where was the calculation and plan.

This victory will hand moral boosting to the ICU, and they will have the platform to proof that they are righteous.

It was obvious from offstart that Barre was neither capable nor equiped to confront the ICU in Kismayo. Thus why was he left to tackle the problem on his own.

nuune, I can understand your frustrations sxb. These days, these websites are ahead of independent news sources such as reuters or AP. Sometimes, websites such as AllAfrica actually get their newsfeed from Shabelle, so some of the happenings could mistakingly get misreported.

^^ Libaax, if this news is true, I would believe one sarkaal is enough for Sahan. But two in one Sahan would not be found advisable by Barre whom I assumed to be a tactician of some sort. The reason why I believe he won't send two of his top Saraakiil, is the idea of minimalization of loss. I don't know, actually now many people outside the area of the battle don't know much about what took place: maybe Barre could have sent these two saraakiishan for Sahan, but logically thinking, one sarkaal would be enough, so what what brought two top saraakiil of Barre in one place must be big; namely, a all-out battle.

(SomaliNet) The militia commander of Juba Valley Alliance has been

captured and slain

by Islamist militia in today’s battle around the outskirt of Bu’ale city, the capital of middle Juba region in southern Somalia. Sources close to Islamic Courts in Mogadishu claimed.

 

Colonel Abdulahi Ismael known as ‘Fara-tag’ was caught at the frontline of the war by Islamists and then he was taken to Bu’ale city where

he was reported to have been knifed to death

by Islamic Courts.

 

Before been killed, Col. Ismael Fara-tag who was leading the JVA militia fought with Islamists near Bu’ale city was reportedly to have been defeated in the battle and lost his militia on field.

 

The whereabouts of Bare Hirale, Somali defense minister and leader of JVA who was also among the commanders at the war zone is unknown yet after being defeated in the combat.

 

All the battlewagons seized by the Islamists were said to have stuck in mud after rains there.

 

It is also being reported that there have been deaths and injures resulted from the clashes but there is no exact number of casualties.

 

Earlier, Islamic Courts confirmed that they had captured 22 war vehicles from Juba Valley Alliance at Bu’ale area where heavy gun battle raged whole day with both sides exerted all sorts of weapons.

 

Islamic officials told the reporters in Mogadishu that they captured prisons of war from the opposed militia loyal to government defense minister Bare Hirale whose ambition was to retake the strategic port city of Kismayu in southern Somalia which is now under the authority of Islamic Courts.

 

Today’s fight in which the Islamic Courts gained the victory over JVA militia was an other harsh blow to unsteady transitional federal government based in Baidoa city 240km southwest of the Somalia capital Mogadishu.
