Waaheen Posted February 9, 2009 An interesting article on Al Shabab, the al qaeda affilitate in the Horn. It is an anlysis of the goals of Al Shabab and ofcourse who and what it is. Meiji Posted February 9, 2009 Alshabaab is a media-hype. They are larger and powerfull in the media, while in reality they are not more powerful nor larger then the other factions in Somalia. Ofcourse they will have some sympatisants here and there, but that can't be that serious. In Mogadishu they have already become insignificant and isolated. So how can they be a threat to Horn of Africa? Surely such articles advance the Ethiopian agenda and not the Somali interest.

Xaruuri Posted February 9, 2009 They are a threat not only to the Somalis, but the entire region. They are terrorists and are an affiliate of al qaeda. Anybody who is still in denial or thinks otherwise need to pay a visit to a Psychiatrist. Do we still need more prove after the suicide bombings that they carried out in Hargeisa, Bosaso, Baydhabo and Mogadishu. Come on guys dont give me that lame excuse that the Shabab are fighting against the Ethiopians. They are part and parcel of international terror groups that are visiting havoc on innocent civilians thru out the world. Xaruuri

axmad gurey Posted February 10, 2009 Anyone who wants to live in a state ruled solely by the Laws of Allah is considered a "terrorist" today. Don't you remember when the Maxakim cleared Xamar of the warlords and brought peace and stability...but because of their goal of ruling by the Shariah, the international community and west decided that was unacceptable and sent in the Ethiopians to bring destruction and instablity to the region and to stop the rise of Islam. Are you also a "terrorist"?
Waaheen Posted February 10, 2009 "Easy adeer with using Bush's and Gaalo's words on your fellow Muslims." No one is asking you to listen to what Mr. Bush said. All you need is to just pay heed to what your prophet Calayhi Salaam said. When asked who is a muslim, he answered: "Al Muslimu man salama al insaana (Human beings) bi yadihi wa lisaanihi. So adeer that is the real Islam that we know, not the deeds of these Yahoos who slaughter innocent people like animals including women and children. NASSIR Posted February 10, 2009 ^ the destruction that the warlords perpetrate are downplayed and outright ignored. What gives more weight some of the fallibility of the Al-shabaab than the brutal actions of the despised warlords? Have you seen the western media condemning the despised criminal outfits in control of pockets in Somalia, the toxic dumping on our shores by shadowy private enterprises or showing compassion for the poor and the displaced? The so called International Community led by U.S have always bankrolled Ethiopia to perpetuate and aggravate our clannish differences in an attempt to prevent a viable Somali state from emerging. I understand the implied message of the article that America has given more weight to Afghanistan than Somalia, but it's time to expose their ill-conceived policies designed to keep Somalia in anarchic status quo. The Shabaabs' actions manifest a rather desperate measures; it's also equally important to highlight the brutal and indiscrimate shelling of civilians by UPDF in retialitory attacks and the approval of such activities through the politics of non-intervention by the U.N.
