Taleexi Posted October 5, 2007 Originally posted by SomaliThinker: But Yet, France and UK have diplomatic talks with the Somaliland Governement especailly UK. I guess they are open society who talk to whomever deems for discussion. In a nutshell talking does neither deny nor affirm the legality of your so-called Somaliland entity. Hope that we get this straight at least

Jacaylbaro Posted October 8, 2007 Hargeysa, October 6, 2007 (SL Times) – On Thursday, the Somaliland minister of foreign affairs named new ambassadors for its foreign missions in Europe. Two additional European capitals ( Paris and Dublin) have been added to the ministry’s foreign mission portfolios. The minister’s statement, signed by the vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Saeed M Noor, said that the ministry has established two new consulates in France and Ireland, and has created new posts inside the ministry’s department of foreign missions, an ‘ambassador at large’ and a special ‘advisor to the minister’ of foreign Affairs. The statement said that the ministry has called on the services of Mr Muhamud N Fagadhe, the former deputy chair of Kulmiye party and a former foreign minister in Egal’s administration during the 90’s, to be the Paris representative for the ministry. The ministry named Mr Abdifatah H Ahmed, who used to be the coordinator for the Diaspora and the S/land government, to take charge of its Dublin mission office. Furthermore, the ministry of Foreign Affairs has appointed Mr Adan M Jibril, a veteran journalist to replace the long time London Somaliland representative, Mr Osman A Ahmed, who has been the Somaliland representative in London since 1991. In the same statement, Mr Muhammad Aar, who used to be the UK Kulmiye party chairman in 2006 and a veteran of the SNM struggle against the Barre regime in the 1980s was appointed by the ministry as an ‘Ambassador At Large’ for Somaliland. In addition, the statement noted that, “Mr Muhamad E Huble has been appointed as an advisor to the foreign minister for Arab affairs.” The ministry of Foreign Affairs’ statement mentioned that the decision for these new appointments were made by the Somaliland Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Abdillahi M Duale and was part of the ministry’s new policy to transform the portfolios and scope of the ministry. Jamster Posted October 8, 2007 This is nothing but a salary creating posts. Some of these men (Fagadhe) have done good things for SL and they need to give him some sort of pension as such they created this phantom title. Nimankan lacag sidii loo siin lahaa uun baa la aqoon waayey, they have to create false posts. The only operating embassy for Somalis in Europe is in France and its run succesfully by his serene; the cousin of Fagadhe.

Jacaylbaro Posted October 8, 2007 HARGEISA,(Reuters) - Electoral officials and political leaders in the breakaway Somali republic of Somaliland have decided to postpone forthcoming elections to allow for voter registration to be completed. Local government and presidential polls for the region bordering Ethiopia had been scheduled for December 2007 and April 2008, but have been postponed to July 1 and Aug 31, 2008, respectively. "We have been demanding that registration of voters is a prerogative for holding fair, democratic and free elections," Feisal Ali Warabe, chairman of the opposition Justice and Welfare Party, said on Monday, praising the decision. Somaliland broke away from the rest of Somalia in 1991 when warlords in Mogadishu overthrew the dictator Mohamed Siad Barre. Since then, it has been relatively more peaceful. Somaliland permits only three political parties by law. In July, the government arrested three politicians who tried to form another opposition party. The ruling on the polls was taken by the three approved parties and Somaliland's National Electoral Commission.
