Boowe, I am assuming you have yet reviewed the charts, and the other raw data about revenue comparisons good The Point sent your way. For if you did you would have noticed that your assumptions about other communities and their education/economic progress have deep anomalies that are very hard to compensate.

 

We are very proud of the progress the Northern communities made, and that includes Puntland and Somaliland. The problem with SNM boys like you is that they are still fighting the 1980s rebellious wars, politically speaking, still using same slogans as if they failed to realize that 20 years has passed since, and that political, security and economic landscapes has drastically changed .

As for you, Xiin, shallow analysis as usual. The reason I found the charts presented by 'The Point' to be so interesting is:

 

Berbera traditional has handled the bulk of livestock for all of the former Somalia from independence on. Everyone with a scintilla of awareness knows that. The reasons for that are logical - it being the only deepwater port in the area besides Djibouti. In addition, the real trade in livestock for Somalis is with the Saudi market where our livestock fetches the highest price vis-a-vis the price for our livestock in other countries.

 

Bossasso, on the other hand, being a shallow water port, cannot handle the larger traditional live animal ships, but rather mostly dhows and lighter, smaller ships with limited capacity. In addition, Bossasso usually exports to the Yemeni market across the waterway where prices are far lower, and if possible the livestock is smuggled into Southern Saudi Arabia (far away from the major Saudi metropolises and the higher prices).

 

In 2001, the Saudi livestock embargo was put into place, effectively shutting down the Berbera livestock trade. The only market then open to most Somalis was the Yemeni market served primarily by Bossasso (where livestock fetches about 20% of what it would fetch in the Saudi market).

 

If you notice in the charts, Bossasso only started surpassing Berbera starting from 2001 (correlating with the embargo). The increased numbers for Bossasso are still far less than the numbers for Berbera in years preceding the embargo.

 

As usual shallow analysis...

Now with the embargo lifted, well, I think even you can figure out what's going to happen...

Macno Yare again you are making up facts why Berbera dos not export to Yemen. How do you know the Bosaso from 2001 to present only exported to Yemen to the tune of 1.6 million? If you do not know livestock is exported to Oman and UAE as well. In terms of tonnage Berbera can handle more then Bosaso (deep water port etc), for example imports for Ethiopia, but in terms of livestock Bosaso has managed to outperform Berbera and the charts produced by The Point proof that notwithstanding your weak explanation.

 

Pirate money is definately xaraan and it brings more harm than good and Puntland admin is trying their best to stop it if ransom giving nations cooperate in stopping both pirates and illegal sea fishing and illegal toxic waste dumping.

This is exactly what I have been telling the snm boys as xiinfanin says in this thread, that being in an aggressive posture all the time and belittling some communities is a counterproductive and self-defeating style of demonstrating your perceived worth. Indeed, look to the past to know the future.

The eastern communities, according to Capt. Miles's journal (1840s), describes as people who live "orderly and loth to shed blood" whereas the western communities(Somaliland) as "much more turbulent and predatory than" reer Bariga, not to mention "their chronic state of warfare and anarchy".
