Fiqikhayre Posted January 20, 2007 They're coming! African Union backs Somalia plan! Source BBC! Ethiopian had promised to withdraw its forces in Somalia The African Union has approved a plan to send nine battalions of African peacekeeping troops to Somalia to help stabilise the country. A senior AU official said the troops would be deployed for six months, and eventually be taken over by the UN. They are to take over from Ethiopian forces, who were sent to Somalia last month to drive out Islamist militias. The AU's peacekeeping plan was announced as fresh gunfire broke out in the Somali capital, Mogadishu. Unidentified attackers are said to have used mortar fire against the residence of interim President Abdullahi Yusuf. It is unclear whether he was there at the time. There are no reports of casualties. Leaving Somalia The AU's plan to send peacekeepers was announced in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa - where the union is based. POSSIBLE PEACEKEEPERS 8,000-strong force proposed: Uganda: 1,500 troops offered, subject to parliamentary approval Tanzania: Considering Nigeria: Considering Rwanda: Considering South Africa: Considering but forces stretched Somali viewpoints Its Peace and Security Council approved the deployment of a troops in Somalia for an initial period of six months. Three battalions are due to be sent initially, with six more battalions to follow over a six-month period. The AU's commissioner for peace and security, Said Djinnit, said the mission's role would be to "provide support to the transitional federal institutions in their efforts towards the stabilisation of the situation in the country and the furtherance of dialogue". So far only Uganda has pledged to contribute to the AU force. Other countries are considering possible contributions. Earlier Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi told the BBC his troops would start leaving Somalia "in the next few days". The Union of Islamic Courts swept over much of southern Somalia last year, capturing Mogadishu in June. Ethiopia and the United States said the Islamic Courts harboured members of al-Qaeda - something the union has denied. Ethiopian forces launched a large-scale offensive in December, taking territory captured by the Islamists over the last six months. Somalia's Ethiopian-backed interim government says some 3,500 Islamist fighters remain in hiding in Mogadishu.
Wisdom_Seeker Posted January 20, 2007 We don’t need more inept foreigners roaming our country. The AU peacekeeping soldiers that were sent to Darfur started raping the women, who they were supposed to protect. POSSIBLE PEACEKEEPERS 8,000-strong force proposed: Uganda: 1,500 troops offered, subject to parliamentary approval Tanzania: Considering Nigeria: Considering Rwanda: Considering South Africa: Considering but forces stretched DREAM ON!!!!! RedSea Posted January 20, 2007 ^Mystic, they are still hasitant, because they are financially broke and they know how much the somali hate foreigners interving with their affairs. Therefore, even if they brought troops,it would only bring more choas and instability, which has been the trend since the Xabashi invasion of Somalia. As your nicely put, this guy,Yoonis, always seems to make up a title that is way off the actual article,I think he only reads the title of the article then posts it. 8,000 "peacekeeping" forces.lol
Wisdom_Seeker Posted January 20, 2007 Lool red, the man is just over the top, he is the supporter of anyone who could initially protect the Warlord Government. African countries are not only faced with financial problems, but they have their own internal problems to deal with in addition. Somalia is not their concern, and beside we all know that Africans never help each other out of generosity, they want their $$$ laid on the table. Then will they only be generous to help Somalia by deploying few uneducated, poorly trained African troops who probably don’t either speak English or Somali. Taako Man Posted January 20, 2007 Peace keepers are coming. The first two/three battalions should arrive in the next 10-14 days. Then some will say ethiopians are gone, but now the Jareers are coming to rape them. Truthfully they want no governance, they don't want to give the haraam away. They have many looted properties and whatnot and feel the only way to maintain that is to kick out the internationally backed, recognized, and truthful government of Somalia. Wisdom_Seeker Posted January 20, 2007 MKA Once again i didn’t bother to read those English verses you call poetry. You are welcoming people you known nothing about to a country you don’t reside in at the moment, do you often let strangers into your house. The TFG came to pacify Mogadishu, they didn’t The Ethiopians came to pacify Mogadishu they didn’t And now other Africans, who are neither our fellow brothers nor neighbors, want to pacify Mogadishu? Again Dream on.
RedSea Posted January 20, 2007 ^what happened to the well trained army of the TFG? Mystic, only 8 starving thousand,I wonder what they can do?
Wisdom_Seeker Posted January 20, 2007 Taako What sort of venomous medicines did the Doc injected in you when you were in the cage? The first thing the ICU did was return back stolen properties, the government didn’t even start to do that. You must be sharing the same dreams with MKA
Wisdom_Seeker Posted January 20, 2007 Red, they could come if they wish. They will wind up leaving just like the UN, Americans and the Ethiopians. These people don’t possess the endowment to settle Somali affairs, like other African leaders they beg for foreign help. Don’t they know that Somalis could only reconcile their problems, not some outsider, who doesn’t even understand Somali Politics? The ICU did an excellent job, these sore losers are still mad. Their incompetence is translucent. Peace
-Nomadique- Posted January 20, 2007 Last I checked Uganda had the LRA breathing down its neck. These states need to put their own houses in order before they think of going eleswhere. What a joke.

The first thing the ICU did was return back stolen properties, the government didn’t even start to do that. You must be sharing the same dreams with MKA Sadly the only people that have seen a cage are the moryaans in Xamar. They need to go back to their cages for good The ICU selectively gave back houses. Many houses in the Ifk Xalin area were not given back. Also the ICU were contradicting themselves when they gave a legendary looter the position as chief of security. Also the ICU thought by giving their tekniko to the warlords in Xamar that they would give the gov't enough problems and that when TFG was no more they could easily defeat the WARLORDS AGAIN. The following picture is a maxakamiinta tekniko that was given by one of the warlords to start trouble with the recognized government. If you notice you can see clearly the maxaakamiinta logo on the side. Somalia's interim government hailed the handover of heavy weaponry by warlords like these pictured in Mogadishu, 18 January 2007, as the African Union met to authorize the deployment of a stabilisation force to the nation.(AFP/File) *But I guess the maxkamadka strategy was outsmarted. Hopefully the crazy maxakamad will be locked in their cages for GOOD *
RedSea Posted January 20, 2007 ^dhiidhiibso bal, you are all over the place. Make your points simple short and to the point. Take ms.Mystic as an example, the way she simply puts her point right on the spot, while you seem to be runing a marathon of words, words meaning nothing. You dont' need to make things fansy.Just basically overheating yourself, let us deal what exactly would starving,HIV infected numbering about 8,000 bring to a city of nearly 2 million people plus the rest of south and south central of the country. So as Mystic said, even if they showed up, they wont' succeed as their prodcessors didnt'.they would be shiped back home in body bags.
