Kenya votes in favor of new constitution. The new constitution almost looks like the constitution of the USA. They will have new bill of rights. There will be Legislative, (a Senate and House of Reps AKA Parliament), Executive, and Judiciary (Supreme Court) government branches. Devolution will be part of the new constitution which means they will have State, City and County levels.

 

The president's functions will be similar to that of the United States presidents. Kenyan president will not be so powerful any more. There will be no prime minister.

I wonder how many counties will be in NFD and how much control will each county have in terms of budget.

Che, I am not sure about the budget but NFD will be one state with a state president(governor) and it will have three counties, Garissa, Wajer and Mandera. Each county will contain 4 districts so the Somalis will have 12 districts.

 

The taxes will be 15% LOL just like California.

^ Inferiority complex? There's no such thing sxb. Do you know that the real estate in Kenya is dominated by Somalis? I can assure you, economically we're better off than we were say 10 years ago when things were much different. The next step now is for Somalis to start investing in their home region to benefit the locals.

 

This new system will be beneficial for us if the leaders stop the "clan politics" that they currently use. If not, the corruption will continue and the shameful act of kitu kidogo will continue and our people will stay impoverished.

Canjeero Somali sey u kala koreyso baa loo kala qaadaa. People in NFD now live peacefully in their region, they chose that way. They do things their way. For right now (until peace prevails in Somalia), I believe they are fine where they are at. The situation in O'gden is different, the xabashis are worst of all colonies and all they understand is the sounds of bullets so let them enjoy it til they leave our land or let the people do things their way.

I like America's system of Governance. It's very democratic and progressive. I think we should drop the British colonial system.

 

Surpisingly, I have made an earlier comment in which I highlighted the need for us Somalis in Somalia to adopt the American form of federalism, @ my thread of positive nationalism inspired by K'naan' 'wavin flag' performance in South Africa.
