15 killed in Southern Somalia, gunmen killed 6 clerics in 'Adado town

A military offensive by Somalia's interim government forces has left at least 15 people dead as the TFG soldier attempted to capture in Bakol region south Somalia from insurgent group, Radio Garowe reports.

 

Heavy fighting between TFG troops and Al-Shabaab erupted in southern Rabdhure in Bakol region, where Al-shabaab controls.

 

“Fierce combat started in the morning, dozen combatants from both sides were killed in the clashes,” witness told Radio Garowe.

 

Upwards of 15 people were killed in Tuesday's clashes in Bakool region, next to Somalia's border with Ethiopia.

 

Forces loyal to the Somali Government forces now controlling the battle field after Al-Shabaab rebels leave the places.

 

On the other hand, at least 6 people loyal to Himan and Heeb have been killed by unidentified gunmen in the central Somali region of Galguduud, witnesses said.

 

The religious men were gunshot by the gunmen after they left from the mosque.

 

“The killing of top religious leader were miserable to the resident,” one of Adado official, Mohamed Aden Tiicey.

 

Reports indicated that Ahlu-sunna was behind the attack but Ahlu-sunna spokesman Sheikh Abdullahi Abdirahman also known as Abu-yussuf denies the allegation, claimed that Al-Shabaab was behind tragedy.

 

So, far no group has claimed the responsible.

 

Somali government forces took over various districts since an offensive launched to take back areas held by militants. Al-Shabab militants took control of the several areas in Jan. 2009 after Ethiopian troops, who had entered to support Somalia's transitional government, withdrew from Somalia.
