Caabudwaaq is the capital of Ahlu Sunnah in Central Somalia and the base of their current politico-military strategy. With respect to that, the situation needed a game changer and this is the most intense game changer since the start of the current impasse. Gabbal, It's no longer a secret that Ethiopia (the implementing agency of the western policy of containment in the HA) has maintained tentative, default alliance of convenience with PL, SL, TFG, and Ahlu Sunnah; it is not in her long best strategy to merge them all as one strong coalition or make one group emerge as the winner and later the restorer of the former Democratic Republic of Somalia. Instead, it wants to exhaust, fracture and keep them fragile and easily manageable.

 

But we don't have to blame Ethiopia for what we have already done to our people and state. It's we who seek its advisory role to outmanouver one another, not to mention military assistance, training, and approval to violate our border and commit all types of international crime.

 

And to consider the position of Zenawi's regime, does it justify its actions that Somalia is no longer a state that can protect its borders from all kinds of meddlesome third party intervention having already failed to be a responsible and reliable partner of International security? That Zenawi's regime won't stand aside and watch ungoverned Somalia become a haven of groups with global agenda?

Nassir good analysis but what belies your point is the fact the trajectory, at least in so far as political maneuvering is concerned, has permanently changed. Ethiopia does not control all the cards on the table as was the case just recently ago. Ethiopia had a base in Feerfeer, in Xuddur, in Beled-Xaawo and in Dollow. These were its most important gateway into controlling the destiny of the Somali Republic throughout its efforts in preventing a political stabilization of the area in Somalia that ultimately controls the future of the Republic; the South. Ethiopia does not breach within hundreds of kilometers of the border areas of Beled-Xaawo, of Dollow, and of Xudder and even the Feerfeer which is located on its side of the internationally recognized border has seen an absence of their influence, let alone or because of the current politico-military control of Beled-Weyne. Ethiopia has lost its control of all the cards and the shape-shifting and destiny making ability it held with respect to influence and pitting Somalis against each other. The question is will the Ahlu Sunnah movement now be forced by the people who give them refuge and manpower to break ties with the said nation and acquiesce as they did to the ICU. Time will tell but I want you to know the number one problem facing Somalia and the Somali Republic with the advent of our civil war is Ethiopian influence. Breaking that status quo has primacy over all.
